SIR-I have the honor of submitting herewith, in accordance with
the law, this, the annual report of the Department of State Printing and
Binding, for the year ending November 15, 1901.

GENERAL STATEMENT.

The cost of public printing, including cuts, maps, advertising and electrotyping, during the year was $42,991.84. (For itemized accounts see Auditor of State's Report.)

The cost of binding during the year was $43,357.97. (For itemized accounts see Auditor of State's Report.)

Amount expended for machinery at State Bindery during the year was $1,994.53.

Contingent expenses for the year were $281.90.

The following is a statement of the incidental accounts of the bindery from November 15, 1900, to November 15, 1901:

The whole number of volumes bound at the State Bindery during the year was as follows:

This shows an increase of 50,216 volumes over the previous year.

The State Bindery has drawn and used the following amount of paper from November 15, 1900, to November 15, 1901:

Under the act passed May 14, 1886, the following table will show the paper, cardboard, etc., that was furnished the Deaf and Dumb Institution Printing Office (for Board of Agriculture printing):

The Printing Commission have awarded the contract for the public printing for a period of two years, from and after the first Monday of November, 1900, to the following parties, and at the prices hereinafter designated:

First Contract-J. L. Trauger, Columbus; composition 17 cents per thousand ems; press work per token 14 cents.

Second Contract—C. J. Krehbiel & Co., Cincinnati; composition 25 cents per thousand ems; press work per token 26 cents.

Third Contract—J. L. Trauger, Columbus; composition 28 cents per thousand ems; press work per token 19 cents.

Fourth Contract-F. J. Heer, Columbus; composition 25 cents per thousand ems; press work per token 14 cents.

Fifth Contract Myers Brothers, Columbus; composition 2 cents per thousand ems; press work per quire 3 cents.

Sixth Contract-The Laning Printing Company, Norwalk; composition 15 cents per thousand ems; press work per token 12 cents.

Seventh Contract-F. J. Heer, Columbus; composition 13 cents per thousand ems; press work per token 15 cents.

Eighth Contract-C. J. Krehbiel & Co., Cincinnati; composition 14 cents per thousand ēms; press work per token 17 cents.

Ninth Contract The Laning Printing Company, Norwalk; composition 18 cents per thousand ems; press work per token 17 cents; translation 20 cents per thousand words.

First Contract-Consisting of bills, resolutions, etc., of the General Assembly.

Third Contract-All reports, communications, etc., printed in pamphlet form, except bulletins of the Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station. Fourth Contract-General and Local Laws and Joint Resolutions. Fifth Contract-All blanks, circulars, etc., for executive departments, other than pamphlets.

Sixth Contract-Bulletins Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station. Seventh Contract-Reports of Secretary of State, Inspector of Building and Loan Associations and Commissioner of Labor Statistics.

Eighth Contract-Reports- of Auditor of State, Commissioner of Common Schools, Superintendent of Insurance (Life and Fire), and Report of the State Board of Agriculture.

Ninth Contract-German printing and translating, comprising all documents ordered to be printed in German by the General Assembly of either branch thereof.

PRINTING PAPER.

The contracts for printing paper for the State for the year 1901-
1902 have been awarded to the following firms at the prices stated:
The Diem & Wing Paper Company, 7,500 reams of Double Super
Royal book paper, 60 pounds to the ream, at 2.97 per pound.

The Chatfield & Woods Company, 40 reams of Double Medium paper, 60 pounds to the ream, at 4 cents per pound; 100 reams of Crane's Linen Folio, 24 pounds to the ream, at 19.5 cents per pound.

The Brooks Company, 30 reams of Linen Ledger Super Royal, 54 pounds to the ream, at 20.25 cents per pound.

Keogh & Rike Paper Company, 500 reams of Double Flat Cap, 26. pounds to the ream, at 3.5 cents per pound.
