faith in Thee, O Christ my God, whereby I may conquer myself and the world, and my deadly enemies that compass me round about.. But chiefly among Thy Mysteries, grant me, O my God, with a pure heart fervently to love and believe, to receive and hold fast, that Sacrament of Thy Heavenly Table to which Thou now invitest me, where Thou dost give to all loving and faithful souls, true Bread from Heaven, that they hunger not, nor thirst, for ever.

Make me strong, blessed, loving Lord, in the Grace that is in Thee. Help me to watch, help me to pray: restrain my wan dering thoughts, fix them on Thee, O allglorious Object of my faith, my hope, my passionate longing, and on Thy almighty, ever-present Love for me. O Blessed One, Who wast so meek and lowly in heart, Who so tenderly didst succour with ceaseless acts of mercies the race Thou didst come to save, raise my downcast eyes, fix them on Thee in one long gaze of adoring love; that so I may not be a proud or slothful member of Thy Body Mystical, but, taking on me Thy light and gracious yoke, I may serve Thee, O Blessed Master, in a true and loving Discipleship, and in an earnest daily endeavour to follow the steps of Thy most holy Life, Who after hallowing all suffering by taking its uttermost measures on Thyself, art now sitting in the Heavenly Places, the

Helper of the weak, the Refresher of the labouring, the Life of them that believe, and the Resurrection of the dead. And O grant that when Thy Feet, O Great Restorer, shall stand once more on Olivet, in that mystic day when it shall be neither clear nor dark, but in the evening-time there shall be light, I may be found among the number of Thy faithful ones who have borne the burden and heat of the day, and to whom there remaineth Rest for evermore.

O Saviour of the world, Who by Thy Cross and precious Blood hast redeemed me, hear me, and save me, O Lord God.

If Thou turn Thy Face away from me, I shall forthwith be troubled: O leave me not; O save me, for Thou art my praise. In Thee have I been called, O raise Thou me up, through the power of Thine endless Life, according to Thy Divine, unchanging Will," Father, I will that they whom Thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am." All glory to God. Amen.

A LITANY

Let my supplication come before Thee; deliver me according to Thy Word

GOD the Father, of heaven, of earth,

of

O God the Son, the world's Redeemer, be merciful to me a sinner.

O God the Holy Ghost, the Comforter, be merciful to me a sinner.

Holy Trinity, One God, be merciful to me a sinner.

Spare, O Lord, in mercy spare me.
Be pitiful, O God.

Jesus, Brightness of Eternal Glory, Lamb of God, my Sacrifice, Who in Thy Love and in Thy pity hast redeemed me,

Have mercy on me.

Thou, O Lord my God, art supremely good above all; Thou alone art most High; Thou alone most powerful, Thou alone most lovely and loving, Thou alone most blessed and glorious: gentle art Thou as the morning light, and full of tender compassion, Whose mercy is over all Thy works.

Be merciful unto me, O Lord Jesus, and help me to follow Thee: finding in the joy of my Lord, my strength; not longing for the

dim pleasure of this life, unheeding its fierce pain.

From that outer darkness of which Thy lips full of grace, once spake,

Good Lord, deliver me.

From the deceitfulness of sin,

Good Lord, deliver me.

From my ghostly enemies,

Good Lord, deliver me.

From evil thoughts, from base desires,
Good Lord, deliver me.

From blindness of heart,

Good Lord, deliver me.

From the hardness of heart that turns from Thy loving call, Follow thou me; from the vanity and lightness of heart that forgets Thee; from the worldliness of heart that serves and loves another god beside Thee,

Good Lord, deliver me.

From the pride Thou dost resist, from the covetousness Thou dost abhor,

Good Lord, deliver me.

From envy, from malice, from aversions, from revenge, from inconstancy, from ingratitude,

Good Lord, deliver me.

From murmuring and discontent, from ungentleness in suffering, from over-anxiety,

Good Lord, deliver me.

O Thou Whose kingdom cometh not by

observation, Who hast had so long patience with me, suffer me not to be overmuch cast down when I fail in my duty; and though so many times I am weary of myself, my sin, my vanity,-yea, though I abhor myself-let me not for one instant believe that Thou dost cease to love me. Let me not for one instant doubt Thy loving thoughtfulness, Thy care for me. From all despondency of mind,

Good Lord, deliver me.

From loss of reason, from peril of death, Good Lord, deliver me.

From false Teachers, and from the evil to come,

Good Lord, deliver me.

From irreverence, from presumption, from unstedfastness and wavering, from fearfulness and unbelief,

Good Lord, deliver me.

Through the most Holy Mystery of Thine Incarnation; through Thy Nativity and Divine Childhood; through the mighty Mystery of Thy Temptation; through Thy Sacred Life, Thy unknown and unknowable sufferings,

Good Lord, deliver me.

Through the sweet and awful drawing of Thy Cross; through Thy precious Death and Burial,

Deliver me, O Lord.

Through Thy glorious Resurrection, Thy
