MOTIVES FOR RECEIVING

The love of Christ constraineth us

ERCIFUL Lord, Thou hast said unto me, Seek ye my Face-and my heart replies, Thy Face, Lord, will I seek. O my soul, this day shalt thou know that thy Lord will come,-early in the morning shalt thou behold His Glory. Yet once again mayest thou go forth to meet thy Lord in the holy Place where His honour dwelleth.

O Blessed Saviour, I come to Thee as Thou didst call me, I come to Thee that I may have life.

I come to renew my covenant with Thee, O Father Almighty, of which this Sacrament is a seal.

I come to testify my sense of Thy Love towards me, O Heavenly Father, in giving Thy Only well-beloved Son to die for me, that Thou mightest give unto me Eternal Life and make me a partaker of Thy Heavenly

treasure.

I come to testify my faith in Thee, and my love towards Thee, O Blessed Saviour, in thus dying for me, and thankfully to commemorate that Thy precious Death in Thine own appointed way.

I come, Lord, to testify my stedfastness

in the Communion of Thy Church, and my charity towards all men.

I come to shew my desire to be one with Thee, O Good Lord, and Thou with me.

I come, O my King, to own my allegiance to Thee, to shew before men and angels that I am on Thy side in Thy holy strife against sin, that for Thee, O dearest Master, I long to live, that for Thee I would gladly die.

I come to Thy Table, O Lord, from the sense I have of my deep need of that spiritual Food to which Thou there invitest me.

Grant, O Lord, that I, and all who communicate with me, may feel its saving efficacy. O feed, O refresh, O nourish our souls with it, that we may go on the strength of that meat even to Thy holy Hill and to Thy dwelling; for Thine infinite Mercies' sake, that moved Thee to suffer for us. Amen. Amen.
