He was Son of John Murray, Marquefs of Athol, by the Lady Amelia Stanley, Daughter of James Stanley, Earl of Derby. He was twice marry'd, firft to the Lady Catharine Hamilton, Daughter of William and Anne, Duke and Dutchefs of Hamilton, by whom he had Iffue five Sons and one Daughter, viz. William, commonly called Marquefs of Tullibardine, who was attainted of High Treafon, for being concern'd in the Rebellion, by the Act 1 G. c. 32. 2. The Lord James Murray, who fucceeded toẞhis Eftate and Titles. 3. Lord Charles, who was convicted of Desertion by a Court-Marfhal held at Prefton, in the Year 1715. 4. Lord George. 5. Lord Bafil, and 6. the Lady Sufanna Murray. His fecond Wife was Mary, Daughter of William Lord Rofs, by whom he had one Son, nam'd John.

This Day the Seffions ended at the Old Baily, where four Men receiv'd Sentence of Death, viz. William Anderfon, for a Street Robbery Rowland Swanfon, and Thomas Herbert for Burglary and Felony ; and Charles Tower's for riotously affembling at the Head of many other Rioters, difguis'd and arm'd, in the new Mint in Wapping. Eight Felons Convict were burnt in the Hand, and forty-five order'd for Transportation.
