Let the MINISTER ftanding up, (foon after the Congregation are affembled, and it has been notified by the Sound of a Little Bell, or any other convenient Way, to call to Attention) begin the Service, by reading, audibly and diftinctly, as many of the following Sentences, as He fhall think proper.

T

HUS faith the high and lofty One, that inhabiteth Eternity, whofe Name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy Place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble Spirit, to revive the Spirit of the humble, and to revive the Heart of the contrite ones; for I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always difpleafed. (Ifai. lvii. 15, 16.)

THE Soul that finneth, it fhall die.-But if the wicked will turn from all his Sins that he hath committed, and keep all my Statutes, (faith the Lord,) and do that which is lawful and right, he fhall furely live, he fhall not die: All his Tranfgreffions that he hath committed, they fhall not be mentioned unto him, in his Righteousness that he hath done, he fhall live. Have I any Pleafure at all that the wicked should die? faith the Lord God; and not that he fhould turn from his Ways, and live?-When a righteous Man turneth away from his Righteoufnefs, and committeth Iniquity, and dieth in them; for his Iniquity that he hath done, fhall he die. Again, when the wicked Man turneth away from his Wickedness, that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall fave his Soul alive: Because he confidereth, and turneth away from

from all his Tranfgreffions that he hath committed, he fhall furely live he fhall not die. (Ezek. xviii. 20—28.)

WHO can fay, I have made my Heart clean, I am pure from Sin?-If we juftifie ourselves, our own Mouth fhall condemn us; if we fay we are perfect, it fhall also prove us perverfe. (Prov. xx. 9. Job ix. 20.)

We all have gone aftray, we have turned every one to his own Way. And if we fay, that we have no Sin, we deceive ourselves, and the Truth is not in us; but if we confefs our Sins, God is faithful and juft to forgive us our Sins, and to purifie us from all Unrighteousness. (Ifai. liii. 6. 1 John i. 8, 9.)

"COME unto me, faith our Savior, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you Reft. Take my Yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in Heart, and ye shall find Reft unto your Souls; for my Yoke is eafy, and my Burden is light. (Matt. xi. 28-30.)

LABOR not for the Meat which perifheth, but for that Meat which endureth unto everlafting Life, which the Son of Man fhall give unto you; for him hath God the Father fealed.

JESUS faid unto them, This is the Work of God, that ye believe on Him whom He hath fent. (John vi. 27, 29.)

I WILL arife and go to my Father, and will fay unto him, Father, I have finned against Heaven, and before Thee, and am no more worthy to be called thy Son. (Luke xv. 18, 19.):

GOD commands us to affemble together, in his holy Temple, to adore and worship Him in Spirit and in Truth, with holy Reverence, and grateful Love. He is merciful and gracious, freely pardoning the humble Penitent: He retaineth not his Anger for ever, becaufe he delighteth in Mercy; for he knoweth our Frame; he remembereth that we are Duft. (Exod. xxxiv. 6. Micah vii. 18. Pf. ciii. 14.)

AND now, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his Ways, and to love him, and to ferve the Lord thy God with all thy Heart, and with all thy Soul. (Deut. x. 12.).

LET us therefore now moft humbly approach Almighty God, our heavenly Father, and confefs our Sins before Him, and let us return unto Him, and implore his Pardon and Mercy. I be

I beseech you therefore, Brethren, by the Mercies of God, that Ye prefent your Bodies a living Sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reafonable Service. (Rom. xii. 1.)

BUT let us confider, that the pure Sacrifices that God accepts, are a broken and contrite Heart, and humble Spirit; and fuch Sacrifices he will not defpife. (P. li. 17.) · AND let us rent our Hearts, and not our Garments, and turn to the Lord our God. (Joel ii. 13.)

AND let us inftantly repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is very near at Hand. (Matth. iii. 2. x.

7.)

LET us love God above all Things, with all our Hearts, and Souls and Strength; and carefully obey his holy Laws; and then we may hope in the Lord our God, to whom belongeth Mercy and Forgiveness, though we have rebelled against him, and have not always obeyed the Voice of the Lord our God, to obferve his Laws, which he hath fet before us, to walk in them.. (Dan. ix. 9.)

[On every Sonday He may also read the following Verfes from Exodus xxxi. 13, 14-17. after any of the former, in this Place, viz.

EAR Ye what the Lord faid unto Mofes, to speak unto the Children of Ifracl, faying, Verily my Sabbaths ye fhall keep: For it is a Sign between Me and You, throughout your Generations; that ye may know that I am the Lord, that doth fanctifie you. Ye fhall keep the Sabbath therefore for it is holy unto you. Every one, that defileth it, Thall furely be put to Death: For whofoever doeth any Work therein, that Soul shall be cut off from amongst his People. Six Days may Work be done, but in the feventh is the Sabbathaf Reft, holy to the Lord: Whofoever doeth any Work on the Sabbath Day, He fhall furely be put to Death. Wherefore the Children of Ifrael fhall keep the Sabbath, to obferve the Sabbath throughout their Generations, for a perpetual Covenant. It is a Sign between Me and the Children of Ifrael for ever: For in fix Days the Lord made Heaven and Earth, and on the feventh Day He refted, and was refreshed.]

Then All kneeling, the Minifter fhall devoutly fay,

HAVE Mercy upon us, O God, according to thy loving Kindness; according to the Multitude of thy tender Mercies, blot out our Tranfgreffions. (Ps. li. 1.)

Peop. God be merciful to us Sinners, and gracioufly accept us in Jefus Chrift our Lord. Amen.

Min. O Lord, open thou our Lips.

Peop. And our Mouths fhall fhew forth thy Praife.
M. O God, make Speed to fave us.

P. O Lord, fave and deliver us, when we call upon thee.

M. The Lord be with you.

P. And with thy Spirit.

Then All ftanding up, the Minifter fhall thus in a fericus folemn Manner addrefs the People.

¶ DEARLY BELOVED in Chrift Jefus our Lord, We are now affembled together, to offer up our united Prayers and Supplications to Almighty God, our heavenly Father, our Creator, Preferver, and continual Benefactor, to humble ourselves before Him for all our Tranfgreffions, to render Thanks for the many and undeferved Benefits we have each of us received at his Hands, to acknowledge his glorious Perfections, his infinite Power and Goodnefs, with our conftant Dependence upon him, to hear and attend to his holy Word, and to afk from him thofe Bleffings which are requifite and neceffary, as well for the Body, as the Soul.

[And as the facred Scriptures affure us, that without Faith it is impoffible to please God, and that in order to render our Worship acceptable at his Throne of Grace, we must believe ftedfaftly in him, (Heb. xi. 6. Jam. i. 6. Matth. xxi. 22.) let us first make Profeffion of our Chriftian Faith*. In doing which, I defire each of you ferioufly to repeat after me the following Creed; (in this, and in all the Parts of Devotion,) fpeaking in your Hearts to the Lord, and giving Thanks always for all Things unto God, even the Father, in the Name of our Lord Jefus Chrift. (Ephef. v. 20.)

Let every Tongue confefs that Jefus is Lord, to the Glory of God the Father
Philip. ii. II.

The

The CREED, to be repeated by the People along with the
Minifter.

I

Believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of Hea

ven and Earth; and in Jefus Chrift his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghoft, born of the Virgin Mary, fuffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; on the third Day He arofe again from the dead, He afcended into Heaven, and now fitteth on the right Hand of God the Father, from whence He fhall come to judge the living and the dead:

I believe in the Holy Ghoff, who proceedeth from the Father and the Son, who fpake by the Prophets and Apostles:

I believe that the facred Scriptures are the only Rule of Faith and Practice, and contain every Thing neceffary to direct unto Salvation:

And I believe God's univerfal Chriftian Church; the Communion of Saints; the Forgivenefs of Sins; the Refurrection of the dead, and the Life everlafting. Amen.

EXHORTATION to be read by the Minister alone.

H

AVING thus, my Fellow-Chriftians, profeffed our Faith in God, and made public Acknowledgement of these heavenly Truths, it is very neceffary, that the good Effect of our religious Principles fhould appear, by a careful Performance of our Chriftian Duty, and a diligent Attendance upon fuch Means, as may beft promote a truly devout and holy Temper and Practice; for Faith without good Works will be our greater Condemnation; (fam. ii. 19.) even the Devils believe and tremble: But if we firmly believe, and repent of our Iniquities, and fhew the fame in our Christian Lives, in Obedience to God's Commands, we may moft affuredly obtain the Pardon of our Sins, and the eternal Salvation of our Souls, through the [Merits and] Mediation of Jefus Chrift, our bleffed Savior and Redeemer.

P. Amen.]

M. And fince the Scriptures affure us, that there is no Man that finneth not, but that in many Things we all of us

offend ;
