THANKSGIVING for a Woman after Child-birth.

FATHER of Mercies, and God of all Comfort, We prefent unto Thee our unfeigned Thanks, for that Thou haft vouchsafed to deliver thine Handmaid from the great Pain and Peril of Child birth: It was thy Power that preferved her, thy Goodness that redeemed her, and thy Hand that fupported her, when Pangs and Sorrow laid hold upon her: Praised therefore be that infinite Love, which moved Thee to deal fo gracioufly with thy Servant, to turn her Sorrow into Joy, her Anguifh into Eafe and Refreshment. Continue, We befeech Thee, thy fatherly. Kindness to her; let thy good Providence ftill watch over and defend her. Preferve Root and Branch before Thee, and take the tender Infant into thy powerful Protection. Grant, O moft merciful Father, that the Parents may never be wanting in their Duty towards this their Offspring, but may they be enabled by thy Grace to bring it up in the Nurture and Admonition of the Lord, that as it grows in Years, it may grow in Favor with God and Man, and, being filled with the Graces of thy holy Spirit, may be of the Number of thy faithful Servants, and finally received into thine everlafting Kingdom, through the Mediation of Jefus Chrift, thine only Son our Lord.
