robes, and palms in their hands; 10 and they cry with a great voice, saying,

Salvation unto our God
who sitteth on the
throne, and unto the
Lamb.

11 And all the angels were
standing round about the
throne, and about the elders
and the four living creatures;
and they fell before the
throne on their faces, and
worshipped God, 12 saying,
Amen: Blessing, and
glory, and wisdom, and
thanksgiving, and honor,
and power, and might,
be unto our God for
ever and ever. Amen.
13 And one of the elders an-
swered, saying unto me,
These that are arrayed in
the white robes, who are
they, and whence came they?

14 And I say unto him, My lord, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they that come out of the great tribulation, and they washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 Therefore are they before the throne of God; and they serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall spread his tabernacle over them. 16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun strike upon them, nor any heat: 17 for the Lamb that is in the midst of the throne shall be their shepherd, and shall guide them unto fountains of waters of life: and God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes.

REVELATION.

CHAPTER XXI, 1-8; 10; 22-XXII, 5.

AND I saw a new heaven the tabernacle of God is

and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth are passed away; and the sea is no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of the throne saying, Behold,

with men and he shall dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God: 4 and he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more; neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more: the first things are passed away.

5 And he that sitteth on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he saith, Write: for these words are faithful and true. 6 And he said unto me, They are come to pass. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7 He that overcometh shall inherit these things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8 But for the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part shall be in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death. 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, 22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God the Almighty, and the Lamb, are the temple thereof. 23 And the city hath no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine upon it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the lamp thereof is the Lar b.

24 And the nations shall walk amidst the light thereof:

25

and the kings of the earth bring their glory into it. And the gates thereof shall in no wise be shut by day (for there shall be no night there): 26 and they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it: 27 and there shall in no wise enter into it anything unclean, or he that maketh an abomination and a lie: but only they that are written in the Lamb's book of life. AND he showed me a river

of water of life, bright as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb, 2 in the midst of the street thereof. And on this side of the river and on that was the tree of life, bearing twelve manner of fruits, yielding its fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3 And there shall be no curse any more: and the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be therein: and his servants shall serve him; 4 and they shall see his face; and his name shall be on their foreheads. 5 And there shall be night no more; and they need no light of lamp, neither light of sun; for the Lord God shall give them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

America.

MY country, 'tis of thee,

Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing;

Land where my fathers died,
Land of the pilgrim's pride,
From every mountain side'
Let freedom ring!

My native country, thee,
Land of the noble free,
Thy name I love;

I love thy rocks and rills,
Thy woods and templed hills;
My heart with rapture thrills,
Like that above.

Let music swell the breeze,
And ring from all the trees
Sweet freedom's song;
Let mortal tongues awake;
Let all that breathe partake;
Let rocks their silence break,
The sound prolong.

Our fathers' God, to Thee,
Author of liberty,

To Thee we sing;

Long may our land be bright

With freedom's holy light;
Protect us by Thy might,
Great God, our King!

NAITH of our Fathers! living still,

In spite of dungeon, fire and sword;
Oh, how our hearts beat high with joy,
Whene'er we hear that glorious word.

REFRAIN.

Faith of our Fathers! Holy Faith!
We will be true to Thee till death.

2 Our Fathers, chained in prisons dark,

Were still in heart and conscience free;
How sweet would be their children's fate,
If they like them, could die for thee.

3 Faith of our Fathers! Faith and Prayer
Shall win our country back to Thee;
And through the truth that comes from God,
Our land shall then indeed be free.

4 Faith of our Fathers we will love

Both friend and foe in all our strife;

And preach Thee too, as love knows how,
By kindly word and virtuous life.

ESUS calls us; o'er the tumult
Of our life's wild, restless sea,

F. W. Faber.

Day by day His sweet voice soundeth,
Saying, "Christian, follow Me;"

2 As of old, Saint Andrew heard it
By the Galilean lake,

C. H. 143

Turned from home, and toil, and kindred,
Leaving all for His dear sake.

3 Jesus calls us from the worship

Of the vain world's golden store;
From each idol that would keep us,
Saying, "Christian, love Me more.'

4 In our joys and in our sorrows,
Days of toil and hours of ease,
Still He calls, in cares and pleasures,
"That we love Him more than these."

5 Jesus calls us: by Thy mercies,

Saviour, make us hear Thy call,
Give our hearts to Thine obedience,
Serve and love Thee best of all.

JESUS shall reign where'er the sun

Does his successive journeys run;
His kingdom stretch from shore to shore,
Till moons shall wax and wane no more.

2 To Him shall endless prayer be made,'
And praises throng to crown His head;
His Name like sweet perfume shall rise
With every morning sacrifice.

3 People and realms of every tongue
Dwell on His love with sweetest song;
And infant voices shall proclaim
Their early blessings on His Name.

4 Blessings abound where'er He reigns;
The prisoner leaps to burst his chains,
The weary find eternal rest,

And all the sons of want are blest.

5 Let every creature rise and bring
Peculiar honors to our King;
Angels descend with songs again,
And earth repeat the loud Amen.

HOLY, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!

C. H. 383

Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee:

Holy, Holy, Holy! merciful and mighty!

God in Three Persons, blessed Trinity!

2 Holy, Holy, Holy! All the saints adore Thee,

Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Which wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.

3 Holy, Holy, Holy! though the darkness hide Thee,
Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see,
Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee,
Perfect in power, in love, and purity.
