Finally, God left these Obscurities in Holy Writ, on purpose to give us a Tafte and Glympfe, as it were, of those great and glorious Truths, which shall hereafter fully be discovered to us in another World, but which now are, in some measure, hidden from our Eyes: On purpose to make us earnestly aspire after, and long for, that Bleffed State and Time, when all Doubts fhall be cleared, and the Veil taken off from all Mysteries: When the Book, that is now in fome measure shut, fhall be opened, and every one of the Seven Seals thereof 1 Cor. loofed: When that which is perfect shallxiii. 10. come, and that which is in Part Shall be done away: When we shall exchange Faith for Sight, Hope for Enjoyment, Reasoning for Intuition; and fhall not (as we do now) fee through a Glass dark-Ver. 12. ly, but know, even as we are known.

N my former Discourse, I fhewed SERM. you, that these Words of S. Peter relate directly to the Writis of S. Paul; in which he owns, there re fome things hard to be Understood, and that They who were unlearned, and Unftable, wrested them, as they did the other Scriptures, to their own Deftruction.
