Nagler could only find one or two copies, and these contained 24 plates, whence he concluded that 24 was the correct number. The above copy contains the complete number of 28 plates marked 1-26, while the last two are without numeration. On each plate is either Kramer's name in full or his monogram. The designs themselves were executed between 1598 and 1599.

The beauty and accuracy of the drawings, coupled with the variety of the subjects represented, call to mind the somewhat similar work by Guckeisen and Ebelmann (see my catalogue 229, No. 860).
