PREFACE TO THE SECOND EDITION. In responding to the call for a Second Edition of these Miscellanies, the Compiler does not deem any further remarks called for, but would direct the attention of the reader to the design of the Work, as expressed in the Preface to the First Edition, as also to the second series of the later volumes.
