In the Collect, how do we pray to serve God? In the Epistle for the day, St. Paul prays that the Philippians might abound in love: shew that this would lead to the forgiveness of injuries. (Eph. iv. 32.)

Prove that we are commanded in the Scriptures to be forbearing and forgiving to each other. (Luke xvii. 3. Col. iii. 13.)

Shew that we ask forgiveness of God in vain unless we forgive those who have offended against us. (Mark xi. 25-6.)

2. For whatsoever is born of God over. cometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 1 JOHN v. 4.

3. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 JOHN v. 5.

4. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God. ROM. xii. 2.
