Ponsonbie, 1590-The second part of the Faerie Queene,

fine copies, 2 vol. green morocco, gilt leaves, ib. ib. 4to, 1596
*In the second edition of the first part of this poem, which was
published at the same time as the second part, there were
very many omissions and some additions.

The amorous description of the meeting of Scudamore and
Amoret in the last five stanzas of the third book are left out,
being replaced with three others. The minor poems and
sonnets at the end were also omitted.

There are variations in copies of this the first edition. In
Canto x, p. 332, the last two lines in the first stanza are not
filled in, while in other copies they are. In some copies, the
three leaves at the end, pp. 601-606, having the compli-
mentary sonnets to the author's patrons and patronesses, are
replaced with four other leaves unpaged, and which have
seven additional sonnets. The present copy has the leaves
as originally published, while the four others are added at
the end.
