209. 210. THE NEW YEAR. 209, 210. 7's M. Newton. Pleyel's Hymn. The New Year. 1 SEE! another year is gone! Quickly have the seasons past; 2 Mercy hitherto has spared; 3 Some, we now no longer see, Who their mortal race have run, 4 Some, but who God only knows,- 5 While we pray, and while we hear, We are standing on the brink. For a New Year. Groton. 1 COME, let us anew our journey pursue, Roll round with the year, P. M. And never stand still till the Master appear! 2 His adorable will let us gladly fulfil, And our talents improve, By the patience of hope, and the labor of love. 210. THE NEW YEAR. 3 Our life is a dream, our time as a stream Glides swiftly away ;. And the fugitive moment refuses to stay. 4 The arrow is flown, the moment is gone ; The millenial year Rushes on to our view, and eternity 's here. 5 0 that each in the day of His coming may say, "I have fought my way through; I have finished the work thou didst give me to do." 6 0 that each from the Lord may receive the glad word, "Well and faithfully done! Enter into my joy, and sit down on my throne." SCRIPTURE SELECTIONS. 1. PUBLIC WORSHIP. Ir is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High: To show forth thy loving kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night. Serve the Lord with gladness; come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord, he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth unto all generations. How amiable are thy tabernacles, O Lord of Hosts! Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee. |
