afflictions which come in my way, knowing that we are "appointed thereunto."

4. When I suffer, I will cheer myself with the thought that soon my warfare will be over, and my perfect rest begin.

Prayer.

THOU once suffering, but now exalted Redeemer, turn not away from one who greatly needs Thy mercy. Look upon a sinner whom Thou hast redeemed with Thy own most precious blood. I come to Thee, because Thou hast bidden me to come, and my soul needs Thy help. When I think of my sins, so great and grievous, I do indeed tremble; but when I behold Thy mercies, so great and plentiful, I am encouraged. Remember, O Lord, how many sorrows Thou didst endure on my account Oh,

then, look upon me in Thy compassion, and pity and pardon all my unfaithfulness. Jesus, my hope is in Thee. Thou bleeding Lamb of God, Thy open wounds are the refuge of my soul. I flee to Thee to hide me. O my Saviour, Thou didst hang upon the Cross in all Thy poverty and nakedness, that I might wear Thy glorious robes. Thou wast wounded, that I might be healed. Come, Thou blessed Physician, and Thy servant shall be made whole. Let Thy blood be sprinkled on me. Wash this spotted soul, and heal the leprosy within. Thy name's sake. Amen.

For

O God, I beseech Thee to prepare me for that solemn ordinance, which so touchingly reminds me of a crucified Saviour. I desire to see and feel the plague of my own evil heart, and to come weary and heavy-laden to Christ for par

don and relief. Gladly would I remember His dying love, with a heart weary of sin, and full of thankfulness. All this I

desire to do, and to do it fervently. But, O Lord, I greatly need Thy help. When, therefore, I go to Thy table, make me to feel as one going to a most blessed Feast. Deliver me from the danger of eating and drinking unworthily, that I may not bring down judgments instead of mercies.

Meet me now, gracious God, with a full pardon for all my offences, and a cure for all my infirmities. Cleanse me with the

blood of Thy dear Son, quicken me by Thy Spirit, and assure me of that eternal life which Thou hast promised to Thy people. Grant this, and all that I need, for the sake of Him who loved me, and gave Himself for me, Jesus Christ my Saviour. Amen.

UST as I am, without one plea,

But that Thy blood was shed for me, And that Thou bidd'st me come to Thee, O Lamb of God, I come.

Just as I am, and waiting not

To rid my soul of one dark blot,

To Thee, Whose blood can cleanse each spot, O Lamb of God, I come.

Just as I am, though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt,
Fightings and fears within, without,
O Lamb of God, I come.

Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;
Sight, riches, healing of the mind,
Yea, all I need, in Thee to find,
O Lamb of God, I come.

Just as I am: Thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because Thy promise I believe,

O Lamb of God, I come.

!

Just as I am, Thy love unknown
Has broken every barrier down;
Now to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come.
