covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his man-servant, nor his maid-servant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's.

WHAT is the sixth commandment? v. 13.

In what case was it lawful to kill? De. 21: 22.

What must there be, besides killing, to make it murder? De. 19: 11.

How may a person be guilty of murder without killing?

1 Jn. 3: 15.

Of what are children guilty when they are angry with one another, and wish for revenge? Mat. 5: 21, 22. What is the seventh commandment? v. 14.

What command do they break, who indulge impure thoughts and desires, or engage in filthy conversation? Mat. 5: 27, 28. Ep. 5: 3, 4.

What is the eighth commandment? v. 15.

What is it to steal? ANs. To take what does not belong to us, without the consent of the owner.

Is it stealing to take things that belong to your parents, without their consent? Pr. 28: 24.

Is it stealing to take things that belong to your brothers or sisters?

Is it any better than stealing to take the advantage of another in a bargain?

If you tell a person that what you have to sell is better than you know it to be, and sell it for more than it is worth, is it any better than stealing?

If you find any thing, and make no efforts to discover the owner and return it to him, is that any better .han stealing?

Is it stealing to go into people's orchards and gardens, and take fruit, without leave?

Suppose it to be generally understood as no offence, in any particular society, would that alter the case? If you intentionally injure another person's property, in any way, what commandment do you break?

What other commandment is always broken by the thief, when he steals? v. 17.

What is the ninth commandment? v. 16.

What is the worst crime that can be committed against this commandment? 1 Ki. 21: 10-13.

If you tell any thing that is false, to the injury of others, of what are you guilty?

I all falsehood injurious to society?

Is any kind of deception consistent with the spirit of this commandment?

If you do any thing for the purpose of injuring the character of another, in any way, of what are you guilty? What is the tenth commandment? v. 17.

If you desire any thing that belongs to others, so that you would like to have it without paying what it is worth, of what are you guilty?

What story can you tell from the Bible, to illustrate this sin? 1 Ki. 21: 1–16.

How often ought you to think of it? Ps. 119: 97.
What ought you to do? Ps. 119: 112.

When you compare your heart and life with God's hoy law, and find that you have broken it, what must you do? Pr. 28: 13, 1. c. 1 Jn. 2: 1, 2.

LESSON XXIV.

Faith.

JN. III. 14-18.

14 And as Moscs lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned; but he that be lieveth not is condemned already; because he hath not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God.

WHAT did Moses lift up, in the wilderness?

How did Moses lift up the serpent in the wilderness?

Nu. 21: 9.

Who told him to do this? Nu. 21: 8.

What was the matter with the people? Nu. 21: 6. When they looked upon the serpent of brass, what effect did they experience?

Would they have been cured by this, if God had not cominanded them to do it?

If they had not believed what God said, would they have looked upon the brazen serpent?

If they had not ooked, would they have been saved?
What was it, then, which saved them?

What disease have we in our souls, that is like the bite of the fiery serpents? Ps. 38: 3, 7.

What will the disease of sin bring upon our souls, if we do not get cured of it? Ja. 1: 15.

What remedy has God provided for the cure of the disease of sin? vs. 14, 15.

How was the Son of man lifted up? Ac. 5: 30, 1. c. What has God said about him, like what he said about the brazen serpent? v. 15. Nu. 21: 8.

If you do not believe this can you look to Christ?

In what did the people trust, when they looked upon the brazen serpent?

In what must you trust, when you look to Christ?

If

you believe God's word, can you not believe and trust in Christ, now that he is in heaven, as well as if you could see him on the cross?

How did God love the world? What did he give?
For what did he give his only-begotten Son?
Could any body be saved, if God had not given his Son
to die for them? Ro. 3: 20.

What were all mankind, when Christ died for us? Ro. 5: 8, 10.

What do you think of such love?

How ought you to feel towards a Being, who has loved you so much as to give his only-begotten Son to die for you?

What do you think of those who will not love such a Being?

How do sinners feel towards God? Ex. 20: 5, 1. c. Jn. 15:18, 23, 24.

Have they any reason to hate him?

Why do they hate him? Ro. 8: 7.

What did God not send his Son into the world for?

What did he send him for?

What is he not, who believeth on him?

What is it that condemns sinners? Ga. 3: 10.

Why are they not condemned who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ? Ga. 3: 13.

What is he that believeth not? Why is he condemned? If we will not be redeemed by Christ, from the curse of the law, will not the law condemn us still?

For what, besides breaking the law, are sinners condemned? v. 18. He. 10: 28, 29.

What is it to be condemned? ANs. When a parent finds a child guilty of disobedience and determines to punish it, the child is condemned to be punished.

When is a sinner condemned? v. 18.

What abideth on him? v. 36, 1. c.

How may this condemnation, wrath, and curse, be removed from the sinner? Ro. 8: 1
