LESSON XXXVII.

Christ invites all who feel their need of a Savior, to come to him.

Is. LV. 1-3. RE. III. 20. xxii. 17.

1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which satisfieth not hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in

fatness.

3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall

live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: If any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whoso ever will, let him take the water of life freely.

IN whose name did the prophet Isaiah speak? 2 Pe. 1: 21.

What does he say to every one that thirsteth?

For what do they thirst, to whom this invitation is di rected? Mat. 5: 6.

Would you invite any one to drink, who was not thirsty Does Christ invite any to come to him, who do not feel their need of a Savior? Mat. 9: 13, 1. c.

To what does Isaiah tell the thirsty to come?
What is meant by the waters? Jn. 7: 37-39.

Will Christ permit us to come to him if we have no money?

How must we feel when we come to Christ? Mat. 5: 3, f. c.

What will he give to those that feel hungry for the bread of life? Lu. 1: 53, f. c.

How will he treat those that come to him feeling that they are rich and have need of nothing? Lu. 1: 53. 1. c.

What question is asked, v. 2?

For what do sinners spend their money? Lu 12. 19

What good will their money do them when death comes Lu. 12: 20.

Can they buy the salvation of their souls with their mo ney? Ps. 49: 6—8.

What good will their money do them, if they lose their souls? Mat. 16: 26.

How much is the soul worth?

What does God call those that choose the pleasures_of this life, rather than the salvation of their souls? Lu. 12: 20, f. c.

For what do sinners labor?

If we gain all that heart could wish, of this world, will t satisfy us? Ec. 1: 14.

How must we hearken to Christ?

If we do so, what may we eat?

And in what may our souls delight?

To what does Christ compare the gospel? Mat. 22: 2-4. What does he mean by the good things which he will give us to eat? Jn. 6: 51, 63.

How did David esteem the word of God? Ps. 119: 103. What must we incline? v.3.

And to whom must we come ?

What shall our souls do, if we hear?

What must we do, besides hearing his words? Mat. 7: 24 If we do this, what will he make with us?

Where does Christ stand? Re. 3: 20. What does he do When a person stands at the door and knocks, what does he want?

When Christ says he stands at the door and knocks, what does he mean by it?

If any person should fasten his door against you when you knock, how would you feel towards him? "Would you think he desired you to come in?

Would you knock again, after that?

How then do you think Christ feels, when you will not open your heart to him?

How do you treat him, when you shut your heart against him?

Should you think he would ever knock again?

Why does he knock again and again? Ps. 103: 8.

you open your heart to him, what will he do? When people invite one another to eat with them, what feelings do they show towards one another? Ca. 5: 1, 1. c.

What does Christ mean, when he says he will sup with those that open their hearts to him? Jn. 14: 23. Who say come? Re. 22: 17.

Who may say come? What may he that is athirst do? Who else may come? If whosoever will may come, can any one complain that he was not invited?

What may we take?

How may we take the water of life?

What hinders you from taking the water of life? Jn 5: 40.

LESSON XXXVIII.

Christ will save all who come to him.
JN. VI. 35-40.

35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe

not.

37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me: and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

38 For I came down from hea

WHAT did Jesus say he was?

ven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent na, that of all which he hath g' in me, I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life. and I will raise him up at the last day.

Could we live, if we had nothing to eat?

Could our souls live, if Christ had not died for us? Ep

2: 1.

How then is he the bread of life?

What does Christ say he that cometh to him shall never do?

What shall he never do, that believeth on him?

When will those that believe in Christ be free from hun ger and thirst? Re. 7: 15, 16.

Why will they not be hungry and thirsty in heaven? Re. 7: 17.

Will the bodies of Christians need food and drink in hea ven? 1 Co. 15: 50.

What kind of food and drink will Jesus give his people in heaven? 1 Co. 10: 3, 4.

Would your mind grow, if you did not think?

Would your affections increase, if you had nothing to love?

What will be food both for our minds and hearts in heaven?

What had he said also? v. 36.

To whom did he say this? v. 24.

If you do not believe in Christ, will he give you the bread of life? Jn. 3: 36.

What does Jesus say all that the Father give:h him shall do?

Who will draw them to him? v. 44.

May all come to him, if they will? Re. 22: 17, 1. c.

What is Jesus able to do for all that come to God by him? He. 7: 25.

What will he in no wise do to him that cometh to him?
What did he come down from heaven not to do?

What did he come to do?

What did he say was the Father's will which sent him? " What may every one that seeth the Son, and believeth on him, have?

Will they have eternal life, who believe on him, though they have not seen him? Jn. 20: 29, 1. c. 1 Pe. 1: 8. What will Christ do, at the last day, for those that believe on him?

How will he raise them up at the last day? 1 Th. 4: 16. Where will they go, after they are raised up? 1 Th. 4: 17. How long will they be with the Lord?

What will they enjoy with him?

What greater encouragement do you need, to lead you to

Christ?

If you slight all the kind invitations and promises of his love, what do you deserve? He. 10: 28, 29.

LESSON XXXIX.

Those that come to Christ must become new creatures, forsake all, and give themselves to his service.

2 Co. v.

14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not hence forth live unto themselves, but WHAT Constraineth us?

14, 15, 17.

unto him which died for them, and rose again.

17 Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: did things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

What did the love of Christ lead him to do for us?
If you were drowning, how would you feel towards the
man who should risk his own life to save yours?
How ought you to be affected with the love of Christ?
What ought the love of Christ to constrain you to do? 2
Co. 8: 5, m. c.

If one died for all, then what were all?

In what were all dead? Ep. 2: 1.

For what purpose did he die for all? v. 15.

Why have we no right to live to ourselves? 1 Co. 6: 19, 20.

Unto whom should we live?

How can we live to Christ? Ro. 6: 13.

What must we forsake, if we would live to Christ? Lu 14: 33.

If there is any thing in the world that you love better than you love Christ, can you be his disciple? Mat 10: 37.

If you would not part with father and mother, brothers and sisters, or even with your own life, rather than to part with Christ, can you be his disciple? Lu. 14: 26 Can you come to Christ, if you are unwilling to endure any hardship or suffering for his sake? Mat. 10 38, 39.

If any man be in Christ, what is he? v. 17.
