CHAP. VI. Chil'dren, obe'y your parents in the Lo'rd for this is right'. 2 Honour thy father and moth'er, (which is the first' command'ment with prom'ise.) 3 That it may be well' with thee, and thou ma'yest live lon'g on the earth'. And, ye fa'thers, provo'ke not your children to wra'th: but bring them up' in the nurture and admonition of the Lo'rd. 5 Servants, be obe'dient to them that are your' mas'ters acco'rding to the flesh', with fe'ar and trem'bling, in sin'gleness of your heart, as un'to Chri'st; 6 Not' with ey'e-ser'vice, as men'-ple'asers; but as the servants of Chri'st, do'ing the will' of Go'd from the heart; 7 With good-will' do'ing service, as to the Lo'rd, and not' to men': 8 Knowing that whatsoev'er good' thing an'y man do'eth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be' bond' or fre'e. 9 And, ye mas'ters, do the same things un'to them', forbea'ring threat'ening: kno'wing that yo'ur Mas'ter also is in heav'en; neither is there respect' of per'sons with him'. 10 Fi'nally, my breth'ren, be strong in the Lo'rd, and in the power of his might'. Put on the whole a'rmour of Go'd, that ye may be a'ble to stand' against' the wi'les of the dev'il. 12 Fo'r we wres'tle not against flesh and blood', but against' principal'ities, against' pow'ers, against' the rulers of the darkness of this' world, against spir'itual wick'edness in high 'places.' 13 Wherefore ta'ke un'to you the whole a'rmour of Go'd, that ye may be able to withstand' in the e'vil day, and having done a'll, to stand'. 14 Stand' therefore, hav'ing your loins girt' about' with truth, and hav'ing on the breast'plate of right'eousness; 15 And your feet shod' with the preparation of the gospel of pe'ace; Abov'e a'll, ta'king the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be a'ble to quench all the fi'ery da'rts of the wick'ed. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the swo'rd of the Spirit, which is the word' of Go'd: 18 Pra'ying a'lways with a'll pra'yer and supplica'tion in the Spir'it, and watch'ing thereunto' with a'll perseverance and supplica'tion for a'll sa'jnts; 19 And for me', that ut'terance may be giv'en un'to me, that I may o'pen my mouth bo'ldly, to make kno'wn the mystery of the gos'pel, 20 For which I am an ambas'sador in bond's; that therein' I may spe'ak bo'ldly, as I o'ught to speak. 21 But that ye also may kno'w my affairs, 'and'

how I do', Tychicus, a belov'ed broth'er and fa'ithful min'ister in the Lo'rd, shall make kno'wn to you a'll things: 22 Whom I have sent' un'to you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that he might com'fort your hearts. 23 Peace 'be' to the breth'ren, and lov'e with faith, from Go'd the Father, and the Lo'rd Je'ṣus Chri'st. 24 Grace 'be' with a'll them' that love our Lo'rd Je'sus Chri'st in sincer'ity. A'men'.

THE PHILIPPIANS.

CHAPTER I.

1 PAUL and Timo'theus, the ser'vants of Je'sus Chri'st, to all the saints in Chri'st Je'sus which are at Philip'pi, with the bish'ops and de'acons: 2 Gra'ce 'be' un'to you, and pe'ace, from Go'd our Fa'ther, and from the Lord Jesus Chri'st. 3 I thank' my Go'd upon' ev'ery remem'brance of you, Always in every prayer of mi'ne for you a'll ma'king request' with joy', 5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first' day until' now'; 6 Be'ing con'fident of this very thin'g, that he' which hath begun' a good' work in you, will perform 'it' until' the da'y of Je'ṣus Chri'st: Even as it is me'et for me to think' this of you all, because I hav'e you in my heart; inasmuch as bo'th in my bond's, and in the defence and confirma'tion of the gospel, ye a'll are parta'kers of my grace. Fo'r Go'd is my rec'ord, how grea'tly I long af'ter you all in the bowels of Je'sus Chri'st. 9 And this' I pray, that your love may abound' yet mo're and mo're in knowledge and in all judgment; 10 That ye may appro've things that are ex'cellent; that ye may be since're, and without' offence, till the day of Chri'st; 11 Be'ing filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Je'sus Chri'st, un'to the glory and pra'ise of Go'd. 12 But I would' ye should understand', brethren, that the things which hap'pened'

un'to me have fallen out rath'er un'to the furtherance of the gospel; 13 So that my bond's in Chri'st are man'ifest in all the palace, and in all other places;' 14 And man'y of the breth'ren in the Lo'rd, wax'ing con'fident by my bond's, are much more boʻld to speak the word' without' fe'ar. 15 Som'e inde'ed pre'ach Chri'st e'ven of en'vy and strife; and som'e also of good' will'. 16 The on'e pre'ach Chri'st of conten'tion, not since'rely, suppo'sing to add affliction to my bonds; 17 But the oth'er of love, kno'wing that I am set for the defence of the gospel. 18 What then'? notwithstan'ding, ev'ery way, wheth'er in pretence, or in truth, Chri'st is pre'ached; and I therein' do rejoi'ce, yea, and will' rejoice. 19 Fo'r I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply' of the Spirit of Je'sus Chri'st, 20 According to my ear'nest expecta'tion and. 'my' ho'pe, that in nothing I shall be asha'med, but that' with all boʻldness, as always, 'so' now also Chri'st shall be magnified in my bod'y, wheth'er it be' by life or by death'. 21 Fo'r to me' to liv'e 'is' Chri'st, and to di'e 'is' ga'jn. 22 But if I live in the flesh', this is the fruit of my la'bour: yet what I shall cho'ose I wot' not. 23 Fo'r I am in a stra'it betwixt' two, having a desire to depa'rt, and to be with Chri'st; which is fa'r bet'ter: 24 Nevertheless' to abi'de in the flesh 'is' more ne'edful for you. 25 And having this con'fidence, I know that I shall abi'de and contin'ue with you all, for your furtherance and joy of faith; 26 That your rejoicing may be more abun'dant in Jesus Chri'st for me, by my com'ing to you again'. 27 O'nly let your conversation be' as it becometh the gospel of Chri'st; that wheth'er I come and see you, or else be ab'sent, I may he'ar of your affa'irs, that ye stand fast' in on'e spir'it, with on'e mi'nd stri'ving togeth'er for the faith of the gos'pel; 28 And in noth'ing ter'rified by your ad'versaries: which is to them' an evident to'ken of perdit'ion, but to you of salva'tion, and that of Go'd. 29 Fo'r un'to you it is given in the behalf of Chri'st, not o'nly to belie've on him, but also to suffer for his sa'ke; 30 Having the sa'me con'flict which ye saw in me, 'and' now he'ar 'to be' in me.

CHAP. II. If there be therefore an'y consola'tion in Chri'st, if an'y com'fort of love, if an'y fellowship of the Spirit, if an'y bow'els and mer'cies, 2 Fulfil' ye my' joy, that ye be like-mi'nded, hav'ing the sa'me lov'e, 'be'ing' of

on'e acco'rd, of on'e mi'nd. 3 Let' nothing be don'e' through strife or vainglo'ry; but in lo'wliness of mi'nd let e'ach este'em oth'er bet'ter than themselves. 4 Look' not every man on his o'wn things, but every man also on the things of oth'ers. 5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Chri'st Je'sus: 6 Who, be'ing in the fo'rm of Go'd, thought it not robbery to be e'qual with Go'd; 7 But made himself' of no reputa'tion, and took' upon' him the form of a servant, and was ma'de in the likeness of men; 8 And being found in fash'ion as a man', he hum'bled himself', and beca'me obe'dient un'to death', e'vẹn the death of the cross'. 9 Wherefore Go'd also hath highly exalted him, and given him a na'me, which is above ev'ery xa mẹ: 10 That at the na'me of Je'sus ev'ery kne'e should bow', of 'things' in heav'en, and things in earth', and 'things' un'der the earth; 11 And that' every ton'gue should confess' that Je'sus Chri'st is' Lo'rd, to the glo'ry of Go'd the Father. 12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obe'yed, not as in my presence o'nly, but now much mo're in my ab'sence, work out' your o'wn salva'tion with fear and trem'bling: 13 Fo'r it is Go'd which work'eth in you, both to will' and to do' of 'his' good' pleasure. 14 Do all things without' murmurings and dispu'tings; 15 That ye may be bla'meless and harmless, the sons of Go'd, without' rebuke, in the midst of a crook'ed and pervers'e na'tion, among whom ye shi'ne as light's in the world; 16 Ho'lding fo'rth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Chri'st, that I have not run' in va'in, neither la'boured in va'in. 17 Yea, and if I be offered upon the sac'rifice and service of your fa'ith, I joy', and rejoi'ce with you all. 18 Fo'r the same ca'use a'lso do ye' joy, and rejoi'ce with me. 19 But I trust' in the Lo'rd Je'ṣus to send Timotheus sho'rtly un'to you, that I also may be of good' com'fort when I know your sta'te. 20 Fo'r I have no' man like-mi'nded, who will nat'urally ca're for your sta'te. 21 Fo'r a'll seek their o'wn, not' the things which are Jesus Christ's. 22 But ye kno'w the pro'of of him, that, as a son' with the father, he hath serv'ed with me in the gospel. 23 Him' therefore I ho'pe to send presently, so soon as I shall se'e how it will go' with me. 24 But I trust' in the Lo'rd that I also myself' shall come sho'rtly. 25 Yet I suppo'sed it necessary to send' to you Epaphrodi'tus, my brother, and compan'ion in la'bour, and fellow

so'ldier, but yo'ur mes'senger, and he that min'istered to my want's. 26 Fo'r he longed af'ter you all, and was full' of heav'iness, because that ye had heard' that he had been sick'. 27 Fo'r inde'ed he was' sick nigh un'to death': but Go'd had mer'cy on him; and not on him' o'nly, but on me' also, lest I should have sorrow upon' sorrow. 23 I sent him therefore the more ca'refully, that, when ye se'ę him again', ye may rejoi'ce, and that I may be the less sorrowful. 29 Rece'ive him therefore in the Lo'rd with a'll glad'ness; and ho'ld such in reputa'tion: 30 Because for the work of Chri'st he was nigh un'to death', not regarding his life, to supply' your lack of service to'ward me.

CHAP. III. Finally, my breth'ren, rejoice in the Lo'rd. To write the same things to you, to me' inde'ed 'is' not grievous, but for yo'u it is safe. 2 Bewa're of dog's, bewa're of e'vil work'ers, bewa're of the concis'ion. 3 Fo'r we' are the circumcis'ion, which wor'ship Go'd in the spirit, and rejoi'ce in Chri'st Je'sus, and have no con'fidence in the flesh'. Though I' might also have con'fidence in the flesh. If any oth'er man think'eth that he hath whereof' he might trust' in the flesh', I' mo're: 5 Circumcised the e'ightth da'y, of the stock' of Israel, of the tribe of Ben'jamin, an He'brew of the He'brews; as touch'ing the la'w, a Phar'isee; 6 Concer'ning ze'ạl, per'secuting the church'; touch'ing the right'eousness which is in the law, bla'meless. 7 But what' things were gain to me, those I coun'ted loss' for Chri'st. Yea, doubt less, and I count a'll things but' loss' for the ex'cellency of the knowledge of Chri'st Je'sus my Lo'rd: for whom I have suffered the loss of a'll things, and do count' them but' dun'g, that I may win' Chri'st, 9 And be found' in him', not' hav'ing mine o'wn right'eousness, which is of the la'w, but that' which is through the faith of Chri'st, the right'eousness which is of Go'd by faith; 10 That I may kno'w him, and the power of his' resurrec tion, and the fellowship of his suf'ferings, being made conformable un'to his death'; 11 If by an'y means I might atta'in un'to the resurrec'tion of the dead'. 12 Not' as though I had alread'y attained, either were alread'y perfect; but I follow af'ter, if that I may apprehend' that' for which also I am apprehen'ded of Chri'st Je'sus. 13 Brethren, I count' not myself' to hav'e apprehen'ded: but this one thing I do', forget'ting those things which are behi'nd, and re'aching fo'rth un'to tho'se things
