Erneft Ferdinand, born March 4, 1682, and Provost of the College of Brunswick. 6. Henry Ferdinand, born in 1684 kill'd at the raifing the fiege at Turin in 1706, and left no lffue. 7. Leopold Charles, born and died in 1670. 8. Frederick Albert, born in 1672, and died in 1673.

Having thus gone through the Genealogy of the Family, as exhibited by Mr. Difney and the Atlas; it is proper to take notice of another Account of it that was printed at Brunswick finck his late Majefty's Acceffion to the Throne of Great Bri Pain; which I shall improve, by making his Majesty's Defcent from the Kings of Scotland and England more clear than that Author has done.

His Majefty's Genealogy from the antient Kings of Scotland, of the Britons, Picts, English-Saxons, Danish and Norman Race; taken from Boethius, Major, BiShop Lesley, Sir George Mackenzie, &c.

Princes of great Fame and Valour, Fergus and Feritharis. The Scots, who came from Ireland into the Northern Parts of Britain, and had liv'd in a fort of Ariftocracy under Captains or Heads of Clans for fome Ages, falling into War with the Pias, fent to Ferquhard King of Ireland for Affiftance; which he granted, and fent them Troops under the Command of his faid two Sons.

1. Fergus the eldeft was by the Scots chosen their firft King, and they fettled the Crown upon his Pofterity, A. M. according to the Julian Period, 4382, 330 Years before our Saviour. Fergus died in the 28th Year of his Reign, leaving two Sons under Age Ferlegus and Mainus.

2. Feritharis his Brother was chosen, the Year before Christ 305, and kill'd, after 15 Years Reign, by means of his eldest Nephew, who was ambitious to have the Crown; but he being excluded because of that Murder,

3. Mainus his younger Nephew fucceeded, the Year before Chrift 290, and reign'd 29 Years.

4. Dornadilla, his Son, fucceeded, the Year before Chrift 161, and reigo'd 28 Years, leaving a Son under Age.

5. Nothatus, Brother to Dornadilla, was chofen, the Year before Chrift 233, reign'd 20 Years; and being kill'd for his Tyranny,

6. Reuther, Son to Dornadilla, fucceeded, the Year before Chrift 213, about the time when Judas Maccabeus governed the Jews; he reign'd 26 Years, and left his Son Thereus under Age.

7. Reutha, Brother to Reuther, fucceeded the Year before Chrift 187, and Refign'd after 14 Years Reign.

8. Thereus, Son to Reuther, fucceeded the Year before Chrift 173, was banish'd for his Tyranny, and died at York in the 12th Year of his Reign.

9. 7ofina, his Brother, fucceeded the Year before Chrift 161, and reign'd 24 Years.

10. Fennanus, his Son, fucceeded, the Year before Chrift 137, and reign'd 30 Years.

11. Durftus, his Son, fucceeded, the Year before Christ 107, reign'd 9 Years, and was kill'd in a Battle for his Tyranny. 12. Evenus I. his Uncle, fucceeded, the Year before Chrift 98, and reign'd 19.

13. Gillus, his Baftard Son, ufurped the Crown after his Father's Death, the Year before Chrift 79, but was taken in Battle, and beheaded in the fecond Year of his Reign.

14. venus II. Grandfon to King Jofina, by his fecond Son Dowal, fucceeded, the Year before Chrift 77, and refign'd in his 17th Year.

15. Ederus, Grandfon to King Durftus, fucceeded, the Year before Christ to. In his time Julius Cafar invaded Britain, and Ederus affifted the Britons and Pics against him. He reign'd gloriously 48 Years.

16. venus III. his Son, fucceeded, the Year before Chrift 13, was put in Prifon for his Lewdneís and Tyranny, and kill'd there by a private Perfon in the feventh Year of his Reign.

17. Metellanus, Nephew to King Ederus, by his Brother Caranus, fucceeded, the Year before Chrift 7. He made Friendfhip with the Emperor Auguftus. Our Saviour was born in the 10th Year of his Reign. Metellanus died in his 39th Year.

18. Caractacus, his Nephew by his Sifter, and Son to Cadallanus, a noble Scots General, fucceeded A. D. 39. His Sifter Voada, fays Lefley, was that noble Queen of the Britons, Wife to Arviragus, who behaved her felt like an Amazon against the Romans. Caractacus was betray'd to the Romans by his Stepmother Cartumandua, a British Queen, after he had maintain'd a glorious War against them. He was carried to Rome, very well

well treated by the Emperor Claudius; and has a noble Character given him by Tacitus, Annals Book 12, who exhibits his Speech to that Emperor. Cafar reftor'd him to his Govern ment; where he died in the 21ft Year of his Reign.

19. Cabredus I. his Brother, fucceeded 4. D. 54. He made War against the Romans with various Success, and died in the 18th Year of his Reign, leaving a Son a Minor.

20. Dardanus, a Nephew to King Metellanus, fucceeded A. D. 71. He proved a cruel Tyrant, and was kill'd in Battle in the 4th Year of his Reign.

21. Corbredus II, tirnamed Galdus, because he was bred with his Aunt Queen Voada among the Britons, fucceeded A. D. 75. He was Son to Corbredus I. He is the fame whom Tacitus calls Galgacus; overcame the Romans in feveral Battles, but at laft was defeated by them on the Grampian Mountains. Tacitus, in his Life of Agricola, gives us a noble Speech which Galdus made to his Army before he engaged. Agricola being called home by Domitian, the Romans loft the Opportunity of pushing their Conquefts farther; fo that Galdus died in Peace the thir tieth Year of his Reign, A. D. 130, leaving a greater Character behind him than any of his Predeceffors.

22. Lucacus, his Son, mounted the Throne after his Father's Death; but proving a wicked and flagitious Tyrant, the Nobility in a general Council condemn'd him and his Minions, and put them to Death in the 3d Year of his Reign.

23. Mogaldus, Grandfon to Corbredus II. was chosen in his ftead, A. D. 106. In the beginning of his Reign he was equal to the best of his Predeceffors; but degenerating into a Tyrant, the Nobility took Arms against him, and cut him off in the 36th Year of his Reign. The Scots Hiftorians fay, that in this Reign Adrian built his Wall from the Mouth of Time to the Mouth of Esk, to guard the Roman Province against the Scots and Picts.

24. His Son Conarus fucceeded, A. D. 148, follow'd his Father's Footsteps, was put in Prison, and died in the 14th Year of his Reign.

25. Ethodius I. Nephew to King Mogaldus by his Sifter, was chofen to fucceed, A. D. 192. He join'd the Pias against the Romans, whom he put to flight, extended their Boundaries beyond Adrian's Wall, and was Murther'd by one of his Muficians, related to a Rebel whom he had Executed in the 30th Year of his Reign, leaving a Son under Age.

26. Satrael, his Brother, was chofen King, A. D. 194, and becoming a Tyrant, was kill'd in the 4th Year of his Reign.

27. Donald I. his Brother fucceeded, A. D. 197. He was the firft King of Scots who embraced the Chriftian Religion, prov'd an excellent and pious Prince. In his time Severus invaded Britain, drove the Scors beyond the Rivers Forth and Clyde,
