O holy and merciful Saviour P,' by thy precious death and burial, by thy glorious resurrection and ascension; in the hour of death, and in the day of judgment, good Lord, deliver us 9.'

We believe that thou shalt come to be our Judge'-O, thou most worthy Judge eternal, suffer us not, at our last hour, for any pains of death, to fall from thee;' but grant that, at thy second coming to judge the world, we may be found an acceptable people in thy sight, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without end. OF ETERNAL LIFE.

As there is an hour of death, and a day of judg ment";' so there will be, in the world to come, a life everlasting! For our blessed Lord, not only, by his death, hath destroyed death;' but, 'by his rising to life again, hath restored to us everlasting life.' For as For as God, the King of glory, hath exalted his only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph unto his kingdom in heaven,' so He will 'exalt' his faithful people unto the same place whither their Saviour Christ is gone before;' that, as He hath ascended into the heavens ",' and 'sitteth at the right hand of God, in the glory of the Father',' so they, who now stedfastly look up to heaven, and by faith behold the glory that shall be revealed,' shall

OF THE CHURCH.

THE visible Church of Christ is a Congregation of faithful men, in the which the pure Word of God is preached, and the Sacraments be duly ministered according to Christ's Ordinance in those things that of necessity are requisite to the same. This is the one Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church';' 'the Congregation of Christ's flock,' 'in all the parts of the world";' the 'universal Church, which Almighty God, our heavenly Father, hath purchased to himself by the precious blood of His dear Son ".'

By his Divine Providence and Holy Spirit, He hath appointed, in this his Church, divers Orders of Ministers,' namely, Bishops, Priests, and Deacons, to the edifying and making it perfect";' 'that is to say, to be Messengers, Watchmen, and Stewards of the Lord; to teach and to premonish, to feed and provide for the Lord's family,' by 'setting forth his true and lively Word, and rightly and duly administering his holy Sacraments; and to seek for Christ's sheep that are dispersed abroad, and for his children who are in the midst of this

To the charge,' then, of these Ministers are committed the sheep of Christ, which He bought with his death, and for whom He shed his blood, the Church and Congregation, which is his Spouse, and his Body;' that they may bring all such unto that agreement in the faith and knowledge of God, and to that ripeness and perfectness of age in Christ, that there be no place left, either for error in religion, or for viciousness in life.'

Into so high a Dignity, to so weighty an Office and Charge, are they called!' Namely, to be Ministers and Stewards of the mysteries "' of Christ; earnestly to feed his flock; diligently to preach his holy Word;' rightly and duly to administer his holy Sacraments P;' to seek for his sheep that are dispersed abroad ";' by their life and doctrine to set forth God's glory, and set forward the salvation of all men';' and, by the 'power which our Lord Jesus Christ hath left to his Church, to absolve all sinners who truly repent, and believe in Him.'
