Exhortation. Dearly

MORNING PRAYER. beloved brethren, the Scripture moveth us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our manifold sins and wickedness; and that we should not dissemble nor cloke them before the face of Almighty God, our heavenly Father; but confess them with an humble, lowly, penitent, and obedient heart; to the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy. And although we ought at all times humbly to acknowledge our sins before God; yet ought we most chiefly so to do, when we assemble and meet together,

The General Confession.

The Absolution.

Lord's Prayer,....And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against

us,

LITANY. Remember not, Lord, our offences, nor the offences of our fore-fathers; neither take thou vengeance of our sins; spare us, good Lord, spare thy people whom thou hast redeemed with thy most precious blood, and be not angry with us for ever.

That it may please thee to bring into the way of truth all such as have erred and are deceived;....

That it may please thee to give us true repentance, to forgive us all our sins, negligences, and ignorances, and to endue us with the grace of thy Holy Spirit, to amend our lives according to thy holy Word; ......

Prayer. O God, merciful Father, that despisest not the sighing of a contrite heart, nor the desire of such as be sorrowful,......

PRAYER in time of War and Tumults. O Almighty God, King of all kings, and Governor of all things, whose power no creature is able to resist, to whom it belongeth justly to punish sinners, and to be merciful to them that truly repent;

O God whose nature and property is ever to have mercy and to forgive, receive our humble petitions, and though we be tied and bound with the chain of our sins, yet let the pitifulness of thy great mercy loose us for the honour of Jesus Christ our Mediator and Advocate.....

COLLECT for the first Sunday in Advent. Almighty God, give us grace that we may cast away the works of darkness and put upon us the armour of light, now in the time of this mortal life,.

......

For the third Sunday in Advent. O Lord Jesus Christ, who at thy first coming didst send thy messenger to prepare thy way before thee; Grant that the ministers and stewards of thy

mysteries may likewise so prepare and make ready thy way, by turning the hearts of the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; that at thy second coming to judge the world we may be found an acceptable people in thy sight, .

For the fourth Sunday in Lent. Grant, we beseech thee, Almighty God, that we, who for our evil deeds do worthily deserve to be punished by the comfort of thy grace may mercifully be relieved,

COMMUNION. Exhortation....The way and means thereto is; First, to examine your lives and conversations by the rule of God's commandments; and wherein soever ye shall perceive yourselves to have offended, either by will, word, or deed, there to bewail your own sinfulness, and to confess yourselves to Almighty God, with full purpose of amendment of life. And if ye shall perceive your offences to be such, as are not only against God, but also against your neighbours ; then ye shall reconcile yourselves unto them, being ready to make restitution and satisfaction, according to the uttermost of your powers, for

I demand therefore,

Dost thou, in the name of this child, renounce the devil and all his works, the vain pomp and glory of the world, with all covetous desires of the same, and the carnal desires of the flesh, so that thou wilt not follow, nor be led by them.
