HYMN 9.

"Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness."

1. For the grace of Christ our Saviour, For the Father's boundless love,

For the Holy Spirit's favour,

Praise be to our God above.

2. For the joys of holy union,

Joys which earth cannot afford,
Joys of heavenly communion,
Praise be ever to the Lord.

Ps. cvii. 8.

HYMN 10.

From Psalm cxvii.

1. FROM all that dwell below the skies
Let the Creator's praise arise;
Let the Redeemer's name be sung,
Through every land, by every tongue.

2. Eternal are thy mercies, Lord,

Eternal truth attends thy word.

Thy praise shall sound from shore to shore,
Till suns shall rise and set no more.

HYMN 11.

"Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty." Ps. xlv. 3.

1. GIRD on thy conquering sword,
Ascend thy shining car;

Go forth, almighty Lord,
To wage thy holy war.
Before his wheels,
In glad surprise,
Ye valleys, rise,
And sink, ye hills.

2. Before thine awful face

Millions of foes shall fall,

The captives of thy grace,
That grace proclaim'd to all:
The world shall know,
Great King of kings,

What wondrous things
Thine arm can do!

3. Here, to my waiting soul,
Bend thy triumphant way;
Here, every foe controul,
And all thy power display.

My heart, thine own,!
Blest Jesus, see,

Submits to Thee, I'
To Thee alone!

HYMN 12.

EVENING.

"I will both lay me down in peace and sleep, for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety." Ps. iv. 8.

1. GLORY to Thee, my God, this night,
For all the blessings of the light.
Keep me, oh keep me, King of kings,
Under thine own Almighty wings.

2. Forgive me, Lord, for thy dear Son,
The ill which I this day have done;
That with the world, myself, and Thee,
I, ere I sleep, at peace may be.

3. Teach me to live, that I may dread
The grave as little as my bed.
Teach me to die, that so I may
With joy behold the judgment day.

4. Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

HYMN 13.

"The Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first."

1 THESS. iv. 16.

1. GREAT God! what do I see and hear!
The end of things created!

The Judge of mankind doth appear
On clouds of glory seated.

The trumpet sounds! the graves restore
The dead, which they contain'd before!
Prepare, my soul, to meet Him,

2. The dead in Christ shall first arise,
At the last trumpet's sounding,
Caught up to meet Him in the skies,
With joy their Lord surrounding.
No gloomy fears their souls dismay;
His presence sheds eternal day ́el
On those prepar'd to meet Him; //

HYMN 14.

“And I heard the voice of harpers, harping with their harps : and they sung as it were a new song before the throne."

1

REV. xiv. 2, 3.

1. HARK! ten thousand harps and voices
Sound the note of praise above.
Jesus reigns, and heaven rejoices,
Jesus reigns the God of love.
See He fills his glorious throne,
Jesus rules the world alone.

2. King of glory, reign for ever;
Thine an everlasting crown.

Nothing from thy love shall sever

Those whom Thou hast made thine own;

Happy objects of thy grace,

Destin'd to behold thy face!

3. Saviour, hasten thine approaching,
Bring, oh bring the glorious day,
When the awful summons hearing,
THeaven and earth shall pass away,
Then with tuneful harps we'll sing,
Glory, glory to our King!
