Covetousness.

199. Of Covetousness. Exod. xx. 17. Thou shalt not covet thy Neighbour's House, thou fhalt not covet thy Neighbour's Wife, nor his Man Servant, nor his Maid Servant, nor his Ox, nor his Afs, nor any Thing that is thy Neighbour's. Deut. 15. 21. Rom. 7.7.-13.9.

Pf. cxix. 36. Incline my Heart unto thy Teftimonies, and not to Covetousness.

! 1 Cor. v. 11. I have written to you, if any one that is called a Brother be covetous, &c. with fuch an one no not to eat.

201. An insatiable Defire of Riches. Prov. 15. 27. He that is greedy of Gain troubleth his own House.

xxvii. 20. Hell and Deftruction is never full, fo the Eyes of a Man are never fatisfied.

Eccl. iv. 8. There is one alone, and there is not a fecond, yea he hath neither Child nor Brother, yet there is no End of his Labour, neither is his Eve fatisfied with Riches, neither faith he for whom do I labour and bereave my Soul of Good? This is alfo Vanity, it is a fore Travel.

202. Threats against unjufi Measures of acquiring Riches. Prov. i. 18. They lay Wait for their own Blood, they lurk privily for their own

Lives.

Ver. 19. So are the Ways of every one that is greedy of Gain, which taketh away the Life of the Owners thereof.

Matt. xvi. 26 What is a Man profited, if he gain the whole World and lofe his own Soul, or what shall a Man give in Exchange for his Soul. Job 27. 8. 203. Riches are not a lafling Poffeffion. Prov. xxiii. 5. Riches make themfelves Wings and fly away.
