crease amongst us that righteousness which exalteth a nation; and save us from that sin, which is the reproach of any people. And may we never in the pride of our hearts forget, that blessed only is the nation whose God is the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. And, for the sake of all, we pray for thy servants the clergy of this realm: O let their light shine, for thy glory and the salvation of all.

Blessed Lord, we pray the more fervently for the well-being of our own family and all that belong to us. Endue them with thy Holy Spirit, enrich them with thy heavenly grace; prosper them with all happiness and bring them to thine everlasting kingdom. We pray for all that differ and dissent from us; beseeching thee to lead all those that be in error to the knowledge of thy truth; and to give both them and us the spirit of charity and peace. O thou God of peace, reconcile them unto us and unto thee.

And do thou pour down upon us all, O merciful God, a spirit of unfeigned thankfulness for the many and great blessings, which thou hast vouchsafed to our family, our friends, and our country; giving us such a lively sense of them, as shall lead us to love and magnify thee all our days.

THANKSGIVING.

Accept our humble thanks, O heavenly Father, for all thy mercies temporal and spiritual. We thank thee again for preserving us through the past night, and for refreshing us with sleep: we acknowledge it to be of thy undeserved goodness, that we are all here before thee this morning.

We praise thee, O gracious God, for every opportunity of meeting together before thy mercy-seat; for every means of spiritual knowledge and strength; for every victory over the enemies of our souls.

We beseech thee to grant, that thy manifold and great mercies, pertaining to the present life, may be always remembered by us with gratitude and love. May we think of them when we lie down and when we rise up; when we sit in the house, and when we walk by the way! All things come of thee: O make us to remember, that we are living on thy bounty; and sanctify all thy benefits to our use and us to thy service, good Lord.

To thee we are indebted, Almighty and merciful God, for all things which accompany salvation. Thou hast brought us to the knowledge and love of the truth as it is in Jesus. Thou hast opened to us the gate of life and immortality: Thou fillest the heart of every faithful disciple with joy unspeakable and

full of glory praised be thy name in earth and in heaven.

We bless thee, O Lord, for commending thy love to us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us; and we pray that thou wilt make us to know and to feel, that there is no other name under heaven, given among men, whereby we must be saved, but only the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

And now, with angels, and archangels and all the company of heaven we laud and magnify thy glorious name, evermore praising thee and saying, Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of Hosts; heaven and earth are full of thy glory: glory be to thee, O Lord most high.

Our Father, which art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation: But deliver us from evil; For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Now unto the King, eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, King of kings and Lord of lords, be honour and glory for ever. Amen.

SATURDAY EVENING.

CONFESSION.

Almighty and most gracious God and Father, who art good and ready to forgive, and plenteous in mercy to all them that call upon thee, have respect unto the prayers of thine unworthy servants: hear thou from heaven thy dwelling place; and when thou hearest, forgive, for Jesus Christ's sake.

O thou, who art exalted far above the praises even of the heavenly host, how great is thy mercy in opening a way for lost sinners to approach thee, and to spread their wants before thee in prayer. Great God! we might justly have been left under thy wrath for our ingratitude and rebellion, having no way to escape, had not thine own arm brought salvation. Thou hast sent thine Incarnate Son to seek and to save the guilty, and hast revealed thyself in him as a just God, and the justifier of all who truly believe; a just God, and yet the Saviour of sinners: O Lord, save us, we beseech thee.

Blessed Jesus, thou didst suffer for our sins, the just for the unjust, to bring us unto God: have thou mercy upon us. God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, raise up thy power and come among

us, and with great might succour us: deliver us from the darkness and dominion of sin, more and more, day by day.

O thou Holy Spirit, who dost convince the world of sin, and of righteousness and of judgment, discover to us the pride of our nature and the estrangement of our hearts from God. Without thy teaching, we know not our evil condition; without thy grace, we shall neither seek nor desire the remedy. O show us to ourselves; and show the Saviour to us, in the fulness of his truth and love, in the greatness and the power of his salvation.

Great Jehovah, we humble ourselves in thy sight for all our iniquities, and particularly for those which we have committed during the past week. We have sinned against thee, our neighbour, and ourselves. Lay not, we pray thee, our sins to our charge; but deliver us from the bondage of them all, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

SUPPLICATION.

O Lord Jesus, our only Redeemer and Saviour, our Lawgiver and Guide, thy word is truth, and thou hast said, "Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted;" give us grace so to mourn for
