we are continually receiving at thy bountiful hands. We are surrounded with the tokens of thy goodness; we, thy undeserving creatures: O make us unfeignedly thankful; graft in our hearts the love of thy name, that we may serve and obey thee without ceasing.

Most gracious God, open thou our eyes to observe, and our hearts to feel, the never failing instances of thy favor toward us. O grant that we may be raising our souls unto thee, through the day, in humble thanksgiving for all thy goodness to us.

But we are bound especially to praise thee, O heavenly Father, for our redemption from sin and death; thou hast so loved the world, that thou gavest thine only begotten Son, that all who believe in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Blessed Jesus, we thank thee, that thou hast redeemed us to God by thy blood. Holy Spirit, let the souls bless thee which thou sanctifiest, and makest fit to be partakers of the kingdom of heaven.

Almighty and most merciful God, great Jehovah, Lord of the universe, Creator, Redeemer, and Sanctifier, we praise thy holy name for all thy goodness and loving-kindness to all mankind; to thy church and people in all ages; to thy church established in this land; to our dear relations and friends; to us thine unworthy servants. And O that our thanks

givings here below may be the foretaste and earnest of our exalted praises in thy courts above; where all thy redeemed people, from the beginning of the world, shall magnify thee in glory everlasting.

To the ever blessed and glorious Trinity be undivided honour and praise, from every created being: yea, let every thing, that hath breath, praise the Lord.

Our Father, which art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation: But deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Now the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing, that we may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Ghost, this day and evermore. Amen.

THURSDAY EVENING.

CONFESSION.

Eternal God, Creator of heaven and earth, we sinners bow down before thee; presuming, though unworthy, to approach thy divine Majesty. Thou art of purer eyes than to behold iniquity, and we are but sinful dust and ashes. If thou shouldest enter into judgment with us, for our thoughts or words or actions, we could not be justified in thy sight. But our hope is in the Lord Jesus Christ, who died for our sins, and sitteth at the right hand of God to make intercession for us.

Thou art God and not man. Thy ways are higher than our ways, and thy thoughts than our thoughts; even as the heavens are higher than the earth. Yea, great as our sins and provocations have been, greater, far greater is thy mercy in Christ Jesus. For his sake thou wilt have compassion upon thy repenting people, and wilt blot out all their sins.

O thou that hearest and answerest prayer, it is meet and right that unto thee all flesh should come. It is our duty, as well as our benefit, to draw near unto thee. O Lord, pardon our neglect of this reasonable service. Pardon our backwardness to it,

and the deadness and formality with which we often perform it, and quicken us according to thy lovingkindness.

Holy Father, we do not presume to draw near to thee, trusting in our own righteousness, but in thy manifold and great mercies in Christ Jesus. We are assembled together in his name; fulfil thy gracious promise, be with us and bless us.

Thou hast commanded us to worship thee the Lord our God, and thee only to serve; and this is our right and bounden duty. But we confess, with shame and sorrow, that we have not glorified thee as we ought, and have not given unto thee the honour which is due unto thy name. Yet, O judge us not according to our ways; recompense us not according to our abominations: but let thine eye pity and thy hand spare us; and let us find that thou art the great and wonderful God, that delightest in mercy.

SUPPLICATION.

Almighty and everlasting God, of whose only gift it cometh, that thy faithful people do unto thee true and laudable service, give us grace to believe in thee, to fear thee, and to love thee, with all our

heart, with all our mind, with all our soul, and with all our strength; to worship thee, to give thee thanks, to put our whole trust in thee, to call upon thee, to honour thy holy name and word; and to serve thee truly all the days of our life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Keep us, we beseech thee, O Lord, with thy perpetual mercy; and because the frailty of man without thee cannot but fall, keep us ever by thy help from all things hurtful, and lead us to all things profitable to our salvation, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Deliver us, we pray thee, O heavenly Father, not only from the wrath to come, but also from all the evils of this present life. Under the shadow of thy wing may we find shelter, till every storm and trouble be overpast. Prepare us for all the trials which thou hast ordained: we know not what a day may bring forth give us the spirit of humble faith and holy resignation to thy blessed will; let us cast all our care on thee, for thou carest for us: and so may all thy dispensations and dealings, whether of prosperity or adversity, be sanctified to the good of our souls; and we may be evermore waiting and watching for the coming of our Lord.

O may thy grace subdue every evil temper and affection in us; and cause the fruits of thy blessed
