one heart, to the heavenly Canaan, to the rest which remaineth for thy people, to the everlasting Sabbath of the redeemed. And we pray, not only for our friends, but for our enemies also: endue us, O Lord, with thine own spirit of peace and love; and make us heartily to love all men, as thou hast loved them and us.

THANKSGIVING.

And now, O gracious Lord, we pray thee to accept our humble and hearty thanks for all thy goodness vouchsafed unto us, temporal and spiritual. How excellent is thy name in all the world! Heaven and earth are full of the majesty of thy glory. Yea, thou hast set up thyself above the heavens, and thy glory above all the earth. Thou art exalted far

above all blessing and praise.

Glory be to thee, O Father Almighty, that the day-spring from on high hath visited us; and that the light of another Sabbath has dawned upon our souls. Glory be to thee, blessed Jesus, who art exalted to be a Prince and a Saviour; for to give repentance to Israel, and forgivness of sins. O that our hearts may be ready to say alway, The Lord be praised; and to shew forth, without ceasing, the praises of him, who hath called us out of darkness into his own marvellous light.

:

We thank thee, merciful God, for all the blessings of thy providence and all the riches of thy grace; for thy Holy Spirit, for thy holy word, for thy holy ordinances but above all, O heavenly Father, for the great fountain of goodness to us and all mankind, for the Son of thy love, our blessed Lord and only Saviour, Jesus Christ the righteous; who came to seek and to save that which was lost; who took upon him our flesh; who died for our sins and rose again, as on this day, for our justification. O let us join the heavenly host in singing, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will towards men; yea, in fellowship with angels and all the company of heaven, let us pour out our thanksgivings before the eternal throne, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

O Lord, give us evermore the spirit of praise; on every day, on the Sabbath-day above all: to thee, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, let our hearts, our lives, our all, be presented and devoted, as one continued offering of gratitude and praise, now, henceforth, and for ever.

Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation: But deliver us from evil;

For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Lord bless us and keep us; the Lord make his face to shine upon us and be gracious unto us; the Lord lift up the light of his countenance upon us, and give us peace, this day and for evermore.

SUNDAY EVENING.

CONFESSION.

Almighty God, and heavenly Father, by thy merciful protection we are brought to the evening of another Sabbath; and are met together again to renew the humble acknowledgment of our great unworthiness and to pray for thy forgiveness; to confess thy great goodness to us, and to pray for its continuance; to pray that, for the sake of thy beloved Son, thou wilt still be gracious unto us, though we have rebelled against thee.

Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, who humblest thyself to listen to the adoration of the heavenly hosts above; how wonderful is thy condescension in regarding the feeble thanksgivings of

sinful mortals! When we think of thy holiness and thy majesty, thy wisdom and goodness and power, and then of our guilt and deficiencies, of our wandering thoughts, our want of reverence and devoutness and the coldness of our affections, Lord, we are ashamed; and should be afraid to lift up our eyes unto thee, but through that merciful Saviour, who ever liveth to make intercession for us; and in whose name we are encouraged to come boldly to thy throne of grace, that we may find mercy and grace to help in every time of need.

Great Jehovah, we have not worshipped thee, served thee, nor obeyed thee, as we ought to have done; and we beseech thee to have compassion upon us, for Jesus' sake: we do desire to worship thee with holy worship; and thee only would we serve: and as thou dost put into our hearts these good desires, so grant that we may bring the same to good effect, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

O our God, our hearts condemn us before thee; we have been ungrateful and unfaithful, and have done wickedly; against thee, thee only have we sinned, and done this evil in thy sight; yet, O Lord, cast us not away from thy presence; take not thy Holy Spirit from us; but create in us a new heart and a new spirit; turn us from all iniquity, especially from the iniquity of our holy things, for the sake of Jesus Christ, our only Mediator and Advocate.

THANKSGIVING.

And O merciful Father, the more we think of our own undeservings, the more do we admire and adore thine infinite goodness and love; that, though thou mightest justly withdraw from us the privileges we abuse and the opportunities we neglect, yet thou dost freely continue them to us, for the sake of thy beloved Son. We praise thee, O God; we acknowledge thee to be the Lord of grace, mercy, and truth. Thou art our God, and we will praise thee; thou art our God, and we will exalt thee.

Almighty and everlasting God, we bless thy holy name for all thy mercies; especially for thy spiritual mercies: for casting our lot in a land, where the darkness is past and the true light now shineth; for having graciously admitted us into covenant with thee; for having nourished and brought us up as thy adopted children, as members of the church which is built upon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone. We thank thee that we have been redeemed by his precious blood; we thank thee for thy Holy Spirit, our heavenly guide and comforter; for thy holy word, which thou hast given as a lamp to our feet and a light to our paths; for thy holy ordinances, and in particular for the privileges of the Sabbath-day; whereby thou dost so lovingly call us to the knowledge of thy grace and faith in
