This book provides an intimate look into Day's personal life as well as essential background for understanding the Catholic Worker movement, which she founded.

Day - now a candidate for beatification - is one of the most appealing of modern religious leaders. Here she reflects on the social and moral concerns of her day in the light of her faith in Christ and her experience of living the Gospel: the disenfranchised poor, the benefits of meaningful work, the significance of the family, the dangers of increasing commercialisation and secularism, the decline of moral standards, and the importance of faith.
