in her, though the last and lowest of her members.

I rely on Thy power to grant REMISSION OF SINS IN BAPTISM. I hope that I shall never return to the sins which have been remitted. I hope that the sinless life of Christ then imparted to me will cast out of me all that is repugnant to the perfect man, to which I am growing.

AND I LOOK FOR THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD, AND THE LIFE OF THE WORLD TO

COME, as the only things worth looking for. I hope to grow in despising transitory things, in regarding death as the gate of life, in realizing even now the spiritual world, in overcoming the world of sense.

I hope to hope more ardently, more entirely. My Lord and my God, my faith is very weak; I stake all upon my hope.

I beseech Thee to make it stronger and higher, that it may abide until its objects are seen. O Lord, I love Thee for my hope.

Acts of Love.

No. I.

LORD, Thou lovest me, even as the
Father loveth Thee.

O Lord, why cannot I love Thee?

I can trust in Thy Love.

Thou canst put away my sins which prevent me from coming to Thee.

I desire to love Thee warmly, and to show it in every action of my life.

I can blame myself, abhor myself, for not loving Thee.

I can try and keep Thy commandments, and then I shall love.

I can think of Thy Love for me, and all the loving things Thou hast done for me.

I desire to know Thy Love for me, which passeth knowledge.

I desire to love Thee, so that it may set my heart in a glow, and be my one motive and happiness.

Lord, Thou knowest that I love Thee a little; make it much.

I will love Thee more if I can; and I can if Thou wilt, and Thou dost will it.

And I shall be loved of the Father, and Thou wilt love me more than ever, and wilt manifest Thyself to me. And THEY will come to me, and make THEIR abode with me!

I

Thanks be to Thee, O Lord. Amen.

No. 2.

(Grounded upon the Articles of the Faith.)

LOVE Thee, O God our Father, because Thou hast loved us, and made all things for us, even Angels to minister to us as heirs of salvation; because Thou hast designed us men, in Thine own Image, to be chief vessels of honour, in wonderful and unique nature of body, soul, and spirit.

I love Thee, O Lord God the Son, because Thou didst empty Thyself of Thy glory in heaven, and wast incarnate, dignifying human nature for ever by taking it upon Thyself, and making us Thy brethren.

I love Thee because Thou didst suffer and die to reconcile Thy Father unto us when we were all concluded under sin, and were all subject unto death.

I love Thee, because in Thy Burial Thou hast

taken away the sting of death and the horror of the grave; because in Thy descent into hell Thou hast gone before us through the valley of the shadow of death, preparing a way of peace for us into Paradise.

I love Thee, because in Thy Resurrection Thou hast assured us of the acceptance of Thy Atonement, and of our resurrection now and hereafter, from the natural man, and from his corruption.

I love Thee, because in Thy glorious Ascension Thou hast led the way for the final destiny of regenerate man, and dost now prepare a place for us, to be with Thee in the Father's Presence for ever.

I love Thee, because Thou dost intercede for me continually at the right hand of God.

I love Thee, because Thou wilt plead for me in the judgment; because Thou hast promised to bring salvation to us that love Thee when Thou shalt appear the second time.

I love Thee, because Thou wilt make us share Thy kingdom in perfect happiness for ever.

I love Thee, O Lord God the Holy Ghost, because Thou hast twice given me life, and dost maintain my life, continually abiding with me. I love Thee for Thy wonderful patience with me. I love Thee for all the good Thou hast given me by the Word of God: for all Thy pleadings in my conscience.

I love Thee with all my heart for the loving pains Thou art taking with me.

I love the Catholic Church, which my Lord Christ loveth.

I glorify God for revealing to me some of the mystery thereof, for grafting me into the Body of Christ in my baptism, making me partaker of remission thereby.

And I love humbly the blessed Trinity, God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, in the hope of the resurrection, in the faith of the present gift of eternal life.

I love Thee, O God, for Thy Love to me, and for my love to Thee. Amen.
