By the mysteries of Thy holy Incarnation, by Thy Life and Ministry, Thy Death and Passion, Thy Resurrection and Ascension,

In times when we are tempted by the world, the flesh, or the devil,

In every crisis of life, in difficulties of work, in time of infectious disease,

In contact with death, in time of perplexity, in discouragement, in personal affliction, Good Lord, etc.

In sickness and pain, in weakness and disappointment,

We sinners do beseech Thee to hear us, O Lord God, and that it may please Thee to rule and govern Thy holy Church universal in the right way;

That it may please Thee to look mercifully upon the English Church, and to guide her in her troubles, and to purify her with Thy Holy Spirit;

That it may please Thee to provide Thy Church with all that is outwardly necessary for Thy work in the conversion of souls;

That it may please Thee to give Thy priests a spirit of devotion, and boldness, and love, and to make them bright examples to Thy flock;

That it may please Thee to touch their hearts with a most hearty love for those committed to their charge, with earnest zeal for their salvation, and with an awful and most devout reverence for Thy holy Mysteries;

That it may please Thee to bless the missions of the Church, all those who work in them, both clergy and laity, men and women, and to prosper their labours in our colonies and among the heathen;

That it may please Thee to confer the places of dignity and responsibility in Thy Church upon those who are best fitted for the same;

That it may please Thee to guide the hearts of those whom Thou hast endowed with wealth, that they may be self-denying and liberal, and wise in promoting the cause of godliness and true devotion, and in charity to the poor;

That it may please Thee to raise up among our commercial people a sense of scrupulous honesty in their dealings; and to check the spirit of idle speculation;
