Saints' Days.

be to O for

which Thou hast given to Thy saints who have served Thee in holiness, and now rest happily with Thee. Give me grace to follow in their steps, and to fight against sin as they did; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

HEAVENLY Father, Who hast taught

O us how great things were wrought, through

faith, in times of old; give, we beseech Thee, to Thy servants a strong and living faith; that, looking not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen, we may win a like victory over the world, and finally behold with our eyes the things in which we have believed; through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

Meditation.

Prayer before Meditation.

LORD, I humbly beg Thy help now to

against all that can interrupt my communion with Thee. Subdue all riotous, and unruly, and wandering thoughts in me. Let Thy Holy Spirit stir up the depths of my soul, and saturate them with holy thoughts. Quicken my affections; exalt my understanding of spiritual things; sharpen my judgment in the earnest desire to mortify my own will and to do Thine; and direct my meditation to personal and practical improvement, so that I may now advance a step in the spiritual life; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

66

Open Thou mine eyes that I may see the wondrous things of Thy law. I am a stranger upon earth, O hide not Thy commandments from me."

66

Quicken Thou me in Thy way. Quicken me in Thy righteousness."

Pious Thoughts.

For Occasional Use.

LESSED art Thou, O Lord; teach me
Thy statutes.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ, according as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy, and without blame before Him in love.

O Lord, open Thou my lips, and my mouth shall show forth Thy praise.

I will rejoice in giving praise for the operations of Thy hands.

I desire to hear Thy voice, and to open the door.
Do Thou, O Lord, come in to me!
Speak, Lord, for Thy servant heareth.

Lord, I believe; help Thou mine unbelief. Remember the word unto Thy servant upon which Thou hast caused me to hope.

O Christ, I pray that Thou mayest dwell in my heart by faith.

O Lord, I ask; O Lord, I seek; O Lord, I knock. Give me the bread of life.

Grant unto me first the kingdom of God, and Thy righteousness.

I wait for the Lord; my soul doth wait; in Thy word do I hope.

God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid.
