I often sin in thought, and word, and deed. Abide with me, Lord, and help me to feel the power of Thy advocacy with the Father, of Thy propitiation for our sins.

I often despond, and fear I shall fall.

Abide with me, Lord, and make me feel Thy

nearness.

Be Thou my Refreshment in weariness, my Comfort in trouble, my Refuge in temptation, in death my Life, in judgment my Redeemer. Abide with me always, that I may abide in Thee, O God of my salvation. Amen.

The good Lord pardon every one that prepareth his heart to seek God, the Lord God of his fathers, though he be not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary. Amen.

Acts of Praise.

No. I.

LORD, my God, I glorify Thee, I give Thee thanks. For my life, my reason, my preservation, my guidance, my sustenance, my parents.

For my education, my being placed in this country, my admission to the Church.

For my redemption, regeneration. For the gift of the Holy Ghost, for my instruction in the truth. For the voice of Thy calling repeated often, again and again.

For Thy patience, long-suffering, Thy very long forbearance even the last, when I was

once more spared.

For Thy mercy in cleansing me so often from the leprosy of sin.

For all the benefits I have received from man. For all my undertakings which have prospered.

For all the little good I may have miserably done.

For the enjoyment of present activity of body or mind.

For Thy promises, and my hope of the treasure in heaven.

For my benefactors, never to be forgotten; for my relatives, my dear friends, my brothers and sisters in the faith, I praise and glorify Thee, O God.

Again I praise Thee, O God, for all those who by their writings, sermons, prayers, example, reproofs, encouragements, have done me good. For all these are Thy gifts, O Lord! to Thee be the glory of all !

Lord, what is man, that Thou visitest him? And what am I among men, that Thou shouldst have given me all these things?

What reward shall I give unto the Lord for all the benefits that He hath done unto me!

I can, and I will, receive the cup of salvation. I can, and I will, call upon the Name of the Lord. Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty! Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory, and honour, and power. For Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are, and were created. Amen.

No. 2.

'HOU art worthy, O Lord, to receive power,

Hand riches, and wisdom, and strength,

And honour, and glory, and blessing.
Blessed be Thy glorious Name.

For Thy good soldiers in every age, Striving lawfully, enduring unto the end, For the wisdom of doctors,

The zeal of evangelists,

The eloquence of prophets,
The love of pastors,

For the praises of babes, the ministry of women, The purity of the young, the fervour of the aged,

For all the signs of Thy Presence,
All the marks of Thy Cross,
All glory be to Thee.

For the light of Thy everlasting Gospel,
Sent to every nation and kindred, and tongue
and people,

Shining so long amongst ourselves;

For Thy Church, the pillar and ground of the

truth,

Against which the gates of hell have not prevailed;

For Thy gracious word of promise
That they that be wise shall shine
As the brightness of the firmament,
And they that turn many to righteousness
As the stars for ever and ever,
All praise, all glory

Be unto Thee.

The Lord is gracious and merciful,
Long-suffering, and of great goodness.
The Lord is loving unto every man,
And His mercy is over all His works.
All Thy works praise Thee, O Lord,
And Thy Saints give thanks unto Thee.
They show the glory of Thy kingdom,
And talk of Thy power,

That Thy power, Thy glory, and mightiness
of Thy kingdom,

Might be known unto men.

Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And Thy dominion endureth throughout all ages.

Great and marvellous are Thy works,
Lord God Almighty;

Just and true are Thy ways,

Thou King of Saints.

Who shall not fear Thee, O Lord, and glorify Thy Name?

For Thou only art holy;

For all nations shall come and worship before

Thee;

For Thy judgments are made manifest.

Salvation to our God, Which sitteth upon the throne,

And unto the Lamb,
Hallelujah!

For the Lord God Omnipotent reigneth.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and

to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now,

shall be, world without end. Amen.

Act of Resolution.

LORD, I resolve henceforward to avoid such sights as . . . such books as such company as .. such thoughts as I resolve for Thy sake to practise . . . O Lord, I dare not do this save in union with this offering now made to Thee, to be accepted, as I trust, with the Oblation of Thy blessed Son; and I humbly beseech Thee that, in eating His Flesh and drinking His Blood, my heart and my will

may be strengthened and sanctified to perform this resolution to Thy honour and glory. O Lord, I pray Thee to accept my resolve, for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

Act of Submission.

HOLY Jesus, Lord and Master, I humbly submit myself to accept whatever Thou ordainest for me, after Thine own good pleasure. Cause my soul to be prepared for Thee at whatever hour Thou mayest come. Vouchsafe to me a patient, submissive, and watchful spirit, that I be not found slumbering when the Bridegroom cometh. And, moreover, I beseech Thee, O Lord, interpose Thine Agony and Bloody Sweat, Thy Cross and Passion, and Thy most precious Blood-shedding, between Thy judgment and my poor soul, now and always, and especially at the hour of my death. And I most earnestly implore Thee that my death may not come upon me unprepared, and that Thou wilt then revive, strengthen, and exalt my faith, hope, and charity, even to my latest breath. Even so come, Lord Jesus, and have mercy upon me. Amen.

Act of Faith.

BELIEVE, O Lord Jesus Christ, that in Thee I have been born again to be a child of God; that Thou hast given me Thy life.

I believe that though I have fallen many a time since, yet that Thou hast sought me and recovered me, and made me repent, and hast smiled upon me.

I believe that Thou art able and willing to give me Thyself more abundantly.
