HYMN 2.LOVE DIVINE,

OVE divine all love excelling,

Joy of heaven to earth come down! Fix in us thy humble dwelling, All thy faithful mercies crown : Jefus thou art all compaffion, Pure unbounded love thou art, Vifit us with thy falvation, Enter every trembling heart.

Breathe! O breathe! thy loving fpirit,
Into every troubled breaft;

Let us all in thee inherit,

Let us find thy promis'd reft:
Take away the pow'r of finning,
Alpha and Omega be;

End of faith, as its beginning,
Set our hearts at liberty.

Come! Almighty to deliver, Let us all thy life receive; Suddenly return and never,

Never more thy temples leave! Thee we wou'd be always bleffing, Serve thee as thine hosts above; Pray and praise thee without ceafing, Glory in thy precious love.

4 Finish then thy new creation,
Pure and spotlefs may we bo,
Let us fee thy great falvation,
Perfectly reftor'd by thee!

I

Chang'd from glory into glory,
"Till in heav'n we take our place,
'Till we caft our crowns before thee,
Loft in wonder, love and praife.

HYMN 3 THE RISING SAVIour.

E dies! the friend of finners dies!

H

Lo! Salem's daughters weep around,

A folemn darkness veils the skies!

A fudden trembling fhakes the ground!
Come, Saints, and drop a tear or two,
For him who groan'd beneath your load!
He shed a thousand drops for you,
A thousand drops of richer blood.

Here's love and grief beyond degree,
The Lord of glory dies for men!
But lo! what fudden joys we see,
Jefus, the dead, revives again!
The rifing God forfakes the tomb,
(The tomb in vain forbids his rife,)
Angelic legions guard him home,

And fhout him welcome to the kies!

3 Break of your tears, ye Saints, and tell
How high our great Deliver reigns,
Sing how he fpoil'd the hofts of hell,
And led the monfter Death in chains,

Say, live for ever wond'rous King

Born to redeem, and strong to fave! Then afk the monster-where's thy fting And where's thy victory, boasting grave?

Once for favour'd finners flain;

Thousand, thousand Saints attending,
Swell the triumph of his train :
Hallelujah!

Hallelujah! Amen!

2 Ev'ry eye fhall now behold him, Rob'd in dreadful majefty;

Those who fet at nought and fold him, Pierc'd and nail'd him to the tree, Deeply wailing,

Shall the true MESSIAH fee.

3 Ev'ry ifland, fea, and mountain,

[ocr errors]

Heav'n and earth fhall flee away; All who hate him, muft confounded, Hear the trump proclaim the day, Come to judgment !

Come to judgment ! come away.

Now redemption, long expected, See in folemn pomp appear! All his Saints by man rejected, Now fhall meet him in the air Hallelujah!

See the day of God appear!

Answer thine own Bride and Spirit,

Haften, Lord, the gen'ral doom,

The new heav'n and earth t' inherit,
Take thy pining exhiles home,
All creation

Travails! groans! and bids thee come.

6 Yea, Amen! let all adore thee,
High on thine eternal throne !
Saviour, take the pow'r and glory,
Claim the kingdom for thine own:
O come quickly,

Hallelujah! come, Lord come.
