Serve the living God alone :

Let thy glory
Fill the earth as foods the sea.
4 Thou to whom all power is given,

Speak the word—at thy command,
Let the company of preachers
Spread thy name from land to land;

Lord be with them

Alway to the end of time.
II 1 ARISE! arise !-with joy survey

The glory of the latter day:
Already is the dawn begun

Which marks at hand a rising sun!
2 . Behold the way!' ye heralds, cry;

Spare not-but lift your voices high :
Convey the sound from pole to pole,

.Glad tidings,' to the captive soul.
3 Behold the way to Zion's hill,

Where Israel's God delights to dwell!
He fixes there his lofty throne,

And calls the sacred place his own.'
4 The north gives up—the south no more

Keeps back her consecrated store:
From east to west the message runs,

And either India yields her sons.
5 Auspicious dawn!-thy rising ray

With joy we view-and hail the day:
Great Sun of Righteousness! arise,
And fill the world with glad surprise.

C. M. Christmas. Marlow. 514

Restoration of the Jews.
1 DAUGHTER of Zion, from the dust

Exalt thy fallen head;
Again in thy Redeemer trust;

He calls thee from the dead.
2 Awake-awake!-put on thy strength,

Thy beautiful array;
The day of freedom dawns at length,

The Lord's appointed day.
3 Rebuild thy walls--thy bounds enlarge,

And send thy heralds forth;

C. M.

Till earth, subdued, its tribute brings,

And distant lands obey.
í 2 Ride forth, victorious Conqueror, ride

Till all thy foes submit,
And all the powers of hell resign

Their trophies at thy feet !
3 Send forth thy word—and let it fly

The spacious earth around;
Till every soul beneath the sun

Shall hear the joyful sound!
ff 4 From sea to sea—from shore to shore,

May Jesus be adored;
And earth, with all her millions, shout

Hosanna to the Lord ! 518

St. Martin's. Colchester. 1 HAIL, mighty Jesus! how divine

Is thy victorious sword!
The stoutest rebel must resign,

At thy commanding word.
r 2 Still gird thy sword upon thy thigh;

Ride with majestic sway:
Go forth, great Prince, triumphantly,

And make thy foes obey.
- 3 And when thy victories are complete,

And all the chosen race
Shall round the throne of mercy meet,

To sing thy conquering grace, mp 4 Oh may my humble soul be found

Among that favored band;
And I with them thy praise will sound,

Throughout Immanuel's land. 519

1 BEHOLD how the Lord

Has girt on his sword;
From conquest to conquest proceeds!

How happy are they

Who live in this day,
And witness his wonderful deeds!
2 His word he sends forth,

From south to the north;
From east and from west it is heard :

Enlargement and Glory of the Church.
1 O'ER mountain tops the mount of God

In latter days shall rise-
Above the summits of the hills-

And draw the wondering eyes.
2 To this the joyful nations round,

All tribes and tongues, shall flow;
Up to the mount of Gol,' they say,

"And to his house we'll go.'
3 The beams wliich shine from Zion's hill

Shall lighten every land;
The King who reigns in Salem's towers

Shall all the world command. 523

Greenville. Sicilian Hymn. 1 ON the inountain's top appearing,

Lo! the sacred herald stands!
Welcome news to Zion bearing,
Zion long in hostile lands.

Mourning captive!

God himself shall loose thy bands.
2 Lo! thy sun is risen in glory!

God himself appears thy friend;
All thy foes shall flee before thee;
Here their boasted triumphs end :

Great deliverance

Zion's King vouchsafes to send.
3 Enemies no more shall trouble;

All thy wrongs shall be redressed;
For thy shame thou shalt have double,
In thy Maker's favor blest;

All thy conflicts
Len End in an eternal rest.

St. Thomas. Paddington.
I RISE, gracious God! and shine

In all thy saving might;
Now prosper every good design

To spread thy glorious light:
2 Oh bring the nations near,

That they may sing thy praise:
Thy word let all the people hear,
And learn thy holy ways:
