rant or other instrument to sell, assign, transfer, or dispose of any such bank annuities, &c. or to receive any dividends, &c. thereon, or to any letter of attorney, draft, warrant, instrument or writing, for or in order to the receiving any money which is or shall be in the custody of the bank of England, or of any other person, under any of the provisions of this act, or shall produce, utter or publish any such letter of attorney, &c. knowing the same to be forged or counterfeited, with intent to defraud the king, or the said governor and company, or any other person, shall be guilty of felony without benefit of clergy.

or other material, having thereupon the impression of any such forged or counterfeited mark, &c. or any such forged or counterfeited impression as aforesaid, knowing the same, respectively, to be forged, &c.; or if any person shall privately or secretly use any such mark, &c. which shall have been so provided, made or used, by or under such direction as aforesaid, with intent to defraud the king of any of the duties, or any part of the duties, under the care, &c. of the said commissioners, every such offender shall be adjudged guilty of felony without benefit of clergy. And the 54 Geo. 3. c. 133. G. B. which is an act for the better enabling the commissioners of stamps to Forging name, make allowances for spoiled stamps on policies of insurance &c. of underwriter, to obtain in Great Britain, and for preventing frauds relating thereallowances for spoiled stamps to, enacts, (s. 10.) that if any person shall forge or counon policies of in- terfeit, (or cause, &c.) or willingly aid or assist in the forging, &c. of the name or hand writing of any underwriter on any policy of insurance, to any declaration of any return of the premium on such policy or any part thereof; or shall fraudulently alter, or cause or procure to be altered, or aid or assist in altering any such declaration, after the same shall have been signed by any underwriter, or shall utter or make use of any such declaration, knowing the same to have been fraudulently altered, or the name or hand writing of any underwriter to have been forged thereon for the purpose of obtaining any such allowance as aforesaid, and with intent to defraud the king, every such offender shall, for the first offence, forfeit £500. to the king, to be recovered in the same manner as other penalties imposed by any of the laws now in force relating to stamp duties, and for the second and every other offence shall be adjudged guilty of felony, and be transported for And the 55 Geo. 3. c. 184. Ireland at or before the time when such mark, &c. shall have been so used, &c. at said office, although such act may not be in force, or such device, &c. may not be used, &c. at said office, at the time of such offence committed; or if any person shall use, utter, vend or sell, (or cause, &c.) or shall have in his possession with intent to use, &c. any vellum, &c. with any counterfeit device, &c. to resemble, &c. any device, &c. which has been or shall be used at said stamp office, for the purposes aforesaid, or any of them, although not then used or kept for said purposes, or any of them, or although the duty denoted thereby shall not be then payable in Ireland, knowing such device, &c. to be counterfeited; or if any officer, in the emyloyment of the commissioners of stamps, or any other person, shall with intent to defraud the king, mark or impress, (or cause, &c.) or be aiding, &c. in marking, &c. or causing, &c. to be marked, &c. any stamp, mark or impression denoting any of the said stamp duties on any vellum, &c. not delivered to him by or by authority of said commis. sioners for the purpose of being stamped with any type, &c. although such type, &c. shall not be then kept at said stamp office, or the duty denoted thereby shall not be then payable in Ireland; or if any person shall, with intent to defraud the king, knowingly have in his possession any vellum, &c. so fraudulently stamped or marked with any mark or stamp to denote any of the aforesaid duties, every such offender shall be adjudged a felon, and be transported for life.
