ADVERTISEMENT. IN submitting to Public Consideration the following Ob servations on the Nature of the Christian Sacrifice, the Writer is influenced by the Hope of placing some Parts of this all-important Subject in a Point of View distinct, and consequently, more more intelligible, than that in which many serious Christians are accustomed to behold them... 0 во Subject, than which none can bo of greater Moment to Manhind; ....one that the Angels desire to look into, and which is, indeed, supremacy worthy both of Men, of Angels, and of GOD. It cannot be denied, that it has been too much the Practice, even of holy and warned Men, both 7 both to speak and write upon this Subject unguardedly; representing the Divine Essence of the Peodeemer as having participated, not only in the Sacrificial Sufferings of His Humanity; but, literally, in His Death itself: nor is it less true, that Thousands, whose could never religious Sincerity could be questioned, have most heartily believed, that both the human Soul, and the Divine Nature of the 8 the Messiah, did really descend, after His Crucifixion, into the Pegions of Perdition, and there remain, amongst the Spirits of the Damned, for some Time pre -vious to His Resurrection; al -though the dying Thief & was as= sured by his Lord, that he should be with Himself in Paradise on the very Day of his Dying..... and, "Many such Things have we heard."
