There the mourner may be comforted : and he that rejoiceth may give thanks;

Every one according to the burden of his heart: for Thou, LORD, knowest the hearts of all.

O LORD, cast us not out from our place in thy glorious temple.

May we be lively stones: built up on thy sure foundation.

Come Thou, and dwell among us and fill this house with thy glory;

Even the illumination of thy Holy Spirit : even the light of thy glorious gospel.

Arise, therefore, O LORD, into thy restingplace: Thou, and the ark of thy strength: Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness and let thy saints sing with joyfulness.

HYMN XCI.

How glorious is the Church of God: the pillar and ground of the truth;

The living assembly of Saints: the witness to men and angels.

The Lord Christ is its corner-stone: the Apostles and Prophets are its foundation;

Every member is built in his place: the whole is fitly framed together.

There the LORD is glorified: there his praises are sounded;

There stand his ministering servants : where prayer is wont to be made.

The sun lighteth not this temple : neither the moon by night giveth light to it:

But the Sun of righteousness shineth there and God and the Lamb are the light of it.

:

The sound of traffic is not there: nor the words of strife and vanity.

There they sing a new song: even praise to the Lord, who redeemed them.

Holy, holy, holy : LORD God Almighty; Christ the heavenly King: God the Holy Spirit ;

Joyful and loud is their song: it filleth earth and heaven.

Open thou our lips, O LORD and our mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

GENERAL HYMNS.

HYMN XCII.

O GOD the King of glory: righteous art Thou in all thy deeds;

We see but a part of thy works but in them Thou art worthy to be praised.

At thy command the sun ariseth : and bringeth the light of day.

At thy command he goeth down and night covereth the heavens.

Thou hast made the moon to rule the night and the stars in the firmament of heaven;

Wonderful are they in their brightness: and they all proclaim thy glory.

O LORD, what are we in thy sight that Thou shouldest call us thy people?

What are the sons of men that Thou shouldest pour out thy grace upon them?

Thou dwellest in the heaven of heavens : and we are worms of the earth;

Yet Thou hast made a covenant with us : and wilt shew us thy salvation.

HYMN XCIII.

Listen, ye sons of men : to the judgments of the LORD;

How He hath poured out his wrath on the people that will not fear Him.

He destroyed the old world with a flood: for the wickedness of them that dwelt therein.

He smote the first-born of Egypt : because they hearkened not unto his voice. Yea, He consumed his people in the wilderness when they would not believe his promise.

:

But He rooted out the nations of Canaan : for the cup of their iniquities was full.

Listen, ye sons of men: the LORD's arm is not shortened;

He will not suffer the sinner: to harden

himself against Him.

Though He bear long, yet will his vengeance come though He seem to forget, yet will He remember at last;

His judgments may be long preparing : yet will they surely overtake the sinner.

Tremble ye before the LORD: fall down and confess before Him;

For with the LORD there is mercy : and with Him there is plenteous redemption.

HYMN XCIV.

O Thou good Shepherd : who layedst down thy life for thy sheep,

:

Heavily wast Thou afflicted in the day of God's fierce anger.

Not for thine own transgression: but to bring us near to God;

That we might have boldness to stand before Him through thy most precious blood.

Therefore, O Lord, we adore Thee: therefore, O Lord, we sing thy praises;
