And he shall purify the sons of Levi : and purge them as gold and silver ;

That they may offer unto the LORD : an offering in righteousness.

Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem : be pleasant unto the LORD;

As in the days of old : and as in former years.

Isaiah xi. 1-9.

And there shall come forth a Rod out of the stem of Jesse : and a branch shall grow out of his roots;

And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him : the Spirit of wisdom and understanding ;

The Spirit of counsel and might : the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

And shall make him of quick understanding : in the fear of the LORD.

And he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes : neither reprove after the hearing of

his ears ;

But with righteousness shall he judge the poor : and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth;

And he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth : and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins : and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb: and the leopard shall lie down with the kid :

And the calf and the young lion and the fatling together : and a little child shall lead them.

And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together : and the lion shall eat straw like the ox;

And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp : and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.

They shall not hurt nor destroy : in all my holy mountain ;

For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD : as the waters cover the

Isaiah lxi. 1-6.

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me: because the LORD hath anointed me

To preach good tidings unto the meek : he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted;

To proclaim liberty to the captives : and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD : and the day of vengeance of our God;

To comfort all that mourn : to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion,

To give them beauty for ashes : the oil of joy for mourning,

The garment of praise : for the spirit of heaviness ;

That they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD : that he might be glorified.

And they shall build the old wastes : they shall raise up the former desolations,

And they shall repair the waste cities : the desolations of many generations.

And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks : and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers;

But ye shall be named the Priests of the LORD : men shall call you the Ministers of our God.

Isaiah xlii. 1-7. Behold my Servant whom I uphold : mine elect in whom my soul delighteth;

I have put my Spirit upon him : he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

He shall not cry, nor lift up : nor cause his voice to be heard in the street ;

A bruised reed shall he not break : and the smoking flax shall he not quench.

He shall bring forth judgment unto truth: he shall not fail nor be discouraged ;

Till he have set judgment in the earth : and the isles shall wait for his law.

Thus saith God the LORD : he that created the heavens and stretched them out ;

He that spread forth the earth : and that which cometh out of it ;
