HYMN LIX.

Sixteenth Sunday after Trinity.

Isaiah ii. 2-5.

It shall come to pass in the last days : that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established

In the top of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills

;

And all nations shall flow unto it and many people shall go and say,

Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD to the house of the God of Jacob,

:

And he will teach us of his ways : and we will walk in his paths;

For out of Zion shall go forth the law : and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among the nations: and shall rebuke many people;

And they shall beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning hooks;

Nation shall not lift up sword against nation neither shall they learn war any

[blocks in formation]

Blessed are the poor in spirit : for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.

Blessed are ye when men shall revile you, and persecute you and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

is

Rejoice and be exceeding glad for great your reward in heaven :

For so persecuted they the prophets : which were before

you.

HYMN LXI.

Eighteenth Sunday after Trinity.

2 Corinthians iv. 8-11. 16-18.

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed : we are perplexed, but not in despair :

Persecuted, but not forsaken: cast down, but not destroyed.

Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus: that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

For we which live are alway delivered to death for Jesus' sake: that the life also of

Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

For which cause we faint not: but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day;

For our light affliction which is but for a moment: worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

While we look not at the things that are seen but at the things which are not seen; For the things which are seen are temporal but the things which are not seen are eternal.

HYMN LXII.

Nineteenth Sunday after Trinity.

Joel iii. 9-12. 15-17.

Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles : Prepare war, wake up the mighty men;

Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears let the weak say, I am strong.

Assemble yourselves and come all ye

heathen and gather yourselves together round about;

Thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD.

Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about.

The sun and the moon shall be darkened and the stars shall withdraw their shining.

The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem : and the heavens and the earth shall shake;

But the LORD will be the hope of his people and the strength of the children of Israel.

So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in Zion my holy mountain; Then shall Jerusalem be holy and there shall no strangers pass through her any

more.
