6. I said, I will confess my sins unto the Lord and so Thou forgavest the wickedness of my sin.

7. For this shall every one that is godly make his prayer unto Thee, in a time when Thou mayest be found: but in the great waterfloods they shall not come nigh him.

8. Thou art a place to hide me in, Thou shalt preserve me from trouble: Thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance.

9. I will inform thee, and teach thee in the way wherein thou shalt go: and I will guide thee with Mine Eye.

10. Be ye not like to horse and mule, which have no understanding: whose mouths must be held with bit and bridle, lest they fall upon thee.

II. Great plagues remain for the ungodly: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord, mercy embraceth him on every side.

12. Be glad, O ye righteous, and rejoice in the Lord and be joyful, all ye that are true of heart.

so great a sinner, dare to approach Thy Table? The heavens in Thy Sight are not clean, and the foundations of the earth shake at Thy Presence. Yet, LORD, Thou hast provided a special means whereby we may come to Thee, even by a new and living way, which Thou hast consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, the Flesh of Thy Son. In His Gospel He has left us a command, "Come unto Me all ye that are weary and heavy-laden." Which command I obey; and in confident assurance of Thy promise I trust Thou wilt have mercy upon me. Wash me throughly from my wickedness, and cleanse me from my sin, renew a right spirit within me, and of Thy Goodness direct me in this service, that all the faculties of my soul and body may be intent rightly to apprehend, and humbly to receive this Bread of Life; so that, by Thy Grace, I may obtain the virtue, fruit and benefits of the Death and Passion of my SAVIOUR, the remission of sins and everlasting Life, through JESUS CHRIST our LORD. Amen.

TUESDAY EVENING.

SCRIPTURE.

OR I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which He was betrayed took bread: and when He had given thanks, He brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is My Body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of Me. After the same manner also He took the cup, when He had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in My Blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of Me.-1 Cor. xi. 23-25.

HYMN.

ESU, at Whose supreme command
We thus approach to God,

Before us in Thy vesture stand,
Thy vesture dipt in Blood.

2. Obedient to Thy gracious Word
We break the hallow'd Bread,
Commemorate Thee, our dying Lord,
And trust on Thee to feed.

3. Saviour, to us Thyself reveal,
And make Thy Nature known,

Affix the Sacramental Seal,
And stamp us for Thine own.

4. The Cup of blessing bless'd by Thee,
Let it Thy Blood impart ;
The Bread Thy mystic Body be,

And cheer each languid heart.

5. The Grace which sure salvation brings
Let us herewith receive;

Satiate the hungry with good things,
The hidden Manna give.

6. The Living Bread sent down from heaven In us vouchsafe to be;

Thy Flesh for all the world is given,
And all may live by Thee.

7. O Lord, on us Thy Flesh bestow,
And let us drink Thy Blood,
Till all our souls are fill'd below
With all the Life of God.

PRAYER.

LORD GOD Almighty, Who hast given Thine Only Begotten Son, not only to die for our sins, but also to be our spiritual food and sustenance in the Holy Communion, grant me grace so to take this Holy Sacrament that I may spiritually eat the Flesh of CHRIST and drink His Blood: that thereby CHRIST may dwell in me and I in Him: that I may

be one with CHRIST, and CHRIST one with me. Cleanse my sinful body by His Body; wash my soul in His most precious Blood; assure me by this Sacrament that Thou still hast favour and goodness towards me; that I am still, miserable and sinful as I have been, a very member incorporate in the mystical Body of Thy Son, which is the blessed Company of all faithful people; that I am still an heir through hope of Thine everlasting Kingdom. And, O merciful LORD GOD, grant that thus partaking of the Body and Blood of my LORD, my body and soul may be preserved to everlasting life, in Him and through Him Who alone is the Resurrection and the Life, our LORD and Saviour JESUS CHRIST. Amen. Our Father, &c.
