Foreign, Office, Sept. 5. George Sholto Douglas, Esq. appointed his Majesty's Secretary of Legation at the Court of Berlin ; and Lion Hervey, Esq. to be his Majesty's Secretary of Legation at the Court of Munich.

Sept. 8. Edward Michael Ward, Esq. ap. pointed his Majesty's Secretary of Legation at the Court of the Grand Duke of Tuscany; and Hamilton, C. Hamilton, Esq. to be his Majesty's Secretary of Legation at the Court of Wirtemberg.

Sept. 25.-Permission granted for Charles Marsh Schomberg, Esq. a Post Captain in the Royal Navy, to wear the insignia of an Honorary Knight Commander of the Royal - Portuguese Military Order of the Tower and Sword, And likewise the same permission for Lieutenant Colonel Charles Downie, of the Spanish service, to wear the supernumerary Cross of the Royal and distinguished Order of Charles the Third; also for Lieutenant James Edgecombe, of the Royal Navy, that he may wear the insignia of the Imperial Russian order of St Wladimir, of the fourth class,

Carlton. House.Sept. 29. This day the Prince Regent invested Rear Admiral Sir William Johnston Hope with the ensigns of a Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Military Order of the Bath.

Whitehall, Sept. 30.-The Prince Regent granted the dignity of Earl and Marquis of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland to the Right Honourable George James Earl of Cholmondeley, and the heirs. male of his body lawfully begotten, by the names, styles, and titles of Earl of Rocksavage, in the county palatine of Chester, and Marquis of Cholmondeley;

And also to grant the dignity of Earl &c., in Great Britain and Ireland, to the following Noblemen and Gentlemen, and their heirs-male, lawfully begotten, by the names, styles, and titles, following, viz:James Walter Viscount Grimston, of Ireland, and Baron Verulam of Gorbainbury, in the county of Hertford,Viscount Grimston and Earl Verulam,-Charles Viscount Whitworth, K. G. C. B. his Majesty's Lieutenant-General and General Governor of Ireland, Baron Abaston, in the county of Stafford, and Earl Whiteworth,-John Lord Brownlow ;-Viscount Alford, of Alford, in the county of Lincoln, and Earl Brownlow, John Craggs Lord Elliot,Earl St Germains, in the county of Cornwall, and in the default of male-issue, to his brother William Elliot, Esq. and his heirsmale, John Lord Boringdon,-Viscount Boringdon, of North Malton, in the coun
