The General Account of Expences takes in the whole; and is debited Quarterly for the Total of the Disbursements made by the Steward, who has Credit given him for his Disbursements.

The General Account of Expences is debited to each refpective Infpector, for his Difburfements, as often as Accounts are ftated with fuch Inspector.

$ 11. Of ANNUAL ACCOUNTS.

The Ledger is annually ballanced by the Secretary, to the 31st of December; and, in order thereto, The contingent Benefactions, Annual Benefactions, Money found in the Charityboxes, Legacies, Intereft of Securities, Rents of Eftates, or any other Income, or Revenue of this Hospital, is carried to an Account, intitled, "An Account of the Income of the Hofpital for the Maintenance and Education of exposed and deferted young Children.”

If the total Income exceeds the General Account of Expences, the Surplus is annually placed to the Credit of an Account, which is intitled, "The Eftate of the Hofpital for the "Maintenance and Education of expofed and "deferted young Children ;" and vice versa, if the General Account of Expences exceed the Income, the Surplus is carried to the Debit.

An Account is drawn out Annually by the Secretary, of the Income and Expences of the Hofpital, under the Heads aforefaid, and of the Cafh, Securities, Lands and Effects, which con→

ftitute and make up the Ballance of the Estate of the Hofpital.

The Accounts are to be laid before the Governors at the Quarterly Meeting after LadyDay, and alfo at the Annual Meeting on the fecond Wednesday in May, being first audited by a Special Committee, according to the By-Law for that Purpose.

§ 12. Of the TREASURER.

The Treasurer is to receive all Benefactions whatfoever, (except thofe paid into the Bank,) and all the Revenues of the Corporation, whe-' ther from the Steward, who is appointed to collect fome of them, or otherwife; and to pay all Sums received by him into the Bank.

He is to have what Money he wants for the Ufe of the Corporation, impreffed to him by Drafts on the Bank, and is to pay fuch Drafts as are made on him by the General Committee, and fuch Bills as they fhall order to be paid in the Manner before-mentioned.

He is to keep the Bank-book, and to account with the Corporation Annually, and to prefide in Courts and Committees in the Abfence of the Prefident and Vice-Prefidents; what further relates to his Office is mentioned in the Bylaws..

§. 13. Of the SECRETARY.

The Secretary has the Cuftody of, and keeps all the Books herein after-mentioned; attends the General Meetings, Committees, and SubCom

Committees, when required; takes Minutes at fuch Meetings, which he reads over as foon as the Bufinefs is ended, and enters them in a fair Book, before the next Meeting, when he reads them, previous to any other Business; and if they are approved, the Chairman figns the fame in Confirmation. The Secretary alfo writes Letters, and keeps fuch Correfpondence as he is directed by the General Committee, or SubCommittees; he makes out, and fends by the Meffenger, all Summonfes or Letters to the Governors, or other Perfons, according to the Orders he receives for that Purpose, agreeably to what is herein, or in the By-law directed.

No certain Salary is fixed, but he is rewarded by the General Committee.

The Books kept by him are,

1. An Agenda Book.

2. A foul and a fair Minute Book of the General Court.

3. A foul and a fair Minute Book of the General Committee.

4. A Book of the Sub-Committee.

5. A Copy-Book of Letters.

6. A Register-Book of Annual Benefactions. 7. A Money Benefaction-Book.

8. A Book, in which are to be entered all Wills, or Parts of Wills, giving any thing to the Hofpital.

9. A Book containing the Abstract of the Titles of Lands, or real Estates, given to, or purchased by, the Hospital.

10. A Book of all the Leafes and Deeds made to, or by the Corporation.

11.

11. A Book in which the Charter, Acts of Parliament, By-laws and Regulations, made from Time to Time, for the Government of the Hofpital, are entered.

12. A Book of all Contracts and Agreements made by the Corporation.

Alfo the feveral Books before mentioned and directed, in the Regulation of the Accounts of the Hospital.

§. 14. Of the TREASURER'S CLERK.

The Treasurer's Clerk is to be a good Accomp tant; he is to give fuch Security for the faithful Difcharge of his Truft, as the Committee fhall require; he is to refide in the House, to collect Annual Subfcriptions, for which he is on every Quarter-day to deliver to the Treasurer blank Receipts, for all fuch Subfcriptions as are then become due, which Receipts are to contain not only the laft Half-year's Subscription, but also all Arrears, which the Treasurer is to fign; the Clerk figning a Lift thereof to be a Charge on him. He is to enter all fuch Sums as he fhall receive on that Account, in the Book kept for that Purpose to pay the fame to the Treafurer, and at the End of each Quarter to make up his Accounts, and deliver up fuch Receipts as remain unpaid, to be cancelled.

He is to make out and deliver to the Treafurer, Rentals of the Eftate of the Hofpital, together with an Account of all Arrears of Rent : he is to collect the Rents of the Tenants as they become payable, and to give Receipts in his own Name, expreffing the fame to be on account of the Hofpital, for fuch Sums as he fhall receive;

to make proper Entries of fuch Receipts, in the Books of the Hofpital, and to pay over the Money to the Treasurer.

He is to keep the Treasurer's Book, and an Account of all Payments made by the Treasurer to the Steward, and to Tradefmen, and to receive and pay fuch Sums as the Treasurer fhall direct; the Treasurer figning proper Receipts for fuch Sums as he fhall direct to be fo received. But the Clerk fhall not give any Receipt in his own Name (except for Rents) nor fhall any other Receipt figned by the Clerk be a Discharge for any Sun due to this Hofpital, the Clerk being only authorised to receive fuch Sums as the Treasurer fhall direct.

He is to keep fuch Books, and to make out all fuch Accounts, as fhall be directed by the General Court, the General Committee, the Prefident, Vice-Prefidents, or Treasurer, or by other proper Committees of the Hospital.

He is to be affiftant to the Secretary and Steward, and to officiate in cafe of their Abfence or Disability.

He is removeable by the General Committee at their Pleasure.

§. 14. Of the INSPECTORS' CLERK.

He is to keep an Account Current of Infpectors, with an exact Account of the Money advanced to them; and to carry on the Corre, fpondence with them.

To fee that their Accounts of Receipts and Payments, and of Deaths, be regularly kept, and proper Vouchers produced.
