as the Showers upon the Grafs.

11 So fhall MY WORD be that ga eth forth out of my Mouth: it fhall not return unto me void, but it shall

ACCOMPLISH that which I please, and it shall PROSPER in the Thing whereto

I fent it.

d Pfal. lxviii. 32 Sing unto God, ye Kingdoms of the Earth: O fing

PRAISES unto the LORD.

33 To him that rideth upon the HEAVEN OF HEAVENS, which were of old; lo, he doth fend out his Voice, and that a MIGHTY VOICE.

34 ASCRIBE ye STRENGTH Unto GOD: his EXCELLENCY is over Ifrael, and his STRENGTH is in the CLOUDS.

Pfal. xcvi. 3 Declare his GLORY among the Heathen, his WONDERS among all People.

4 For the LORD IS GREAT, and GREATLY TO BE PRAISED: he is to be FEARED ABOVE ALL GODS.

s For all the Gods of the Nations are Idols: but the LORD MADE the HEAVENS.

6 HONOUR and MAJESTY are before him: STRENGTH and BEAUTY are in his SANCTUARY.

Pfal. cxlv. 3 Great is the LORD, and GREATLY to be PRAISED; and his GREATNESS IS UNSEARCHABLE.

4 One Generation fhall praise thy Works to another, and fhall declare thy MIGHTY ACTS.

I will fpeak of the glorious HONOUR of thy MAJESTY, and of thy wonDROUS WORKS.

6 And Men fhall fpeak of the MIGHT of thy TERRIBLE ACTS: and I will DECLARE thy GREATNESS.

11 They fhall speak of the GLORY of thy KINGDOM, and talk of thy

POWER

12 To make known to the Sons of Men his MIGHTY ACTS, and the GLORIOUS MAJESTY of his KINGDOM.

13 Thy KINGDOM is an EVERLASTING KINGDOM, and thy DOMINION ENDURETH throughout ALL GENERATIONS.

6 He only is my Rock and my SALVATION; he is my DEFENCE; Ï fhall not be moved.

7 In GoD is my SALVATION and my GLORY: the Rock of my STRENGTH,

and my REFUGE is in GOD.

Ifa. xxxii. 1 A KING fhall REIGN in RIGHTEOUSNESS.

2 And a Man fhall be as an HIDING PLACE from the WIND, and a COVERT from the TEMPEST: as R1VERS of Water in a DRY PLACE, as

the SHADOW of a GREAT Rock in a WEARY LAND.

Ifa. xxvi. 3 Thou wilt keep him in PERFECT PEACE, whofe MIND is

he

he not made thee, and esta- STAYED on thee: because he TRUSTblished thee? ETH in thee.

4 TRUST Ye in the LORD for EVER:

and he will fhew thee,

7 Remember the Days of for in the LORD JEHOVAH is old, confider the Years of EVERLASTING STRENGTH, many Generations: afk thy Father, thy Elders, and they will tell thee. 8 When the most High divided to the Nations their Inheritance, when he SEPARATED the Sons of Adam, he fet the Bounds of the People according to the Number of the Children of Ifrael.

9 For the LORD's Portion is his People: Jacob is the

Lot of his Inheritance.

As xvii. 24 GOD that made the World, and all Things therein, feeing that he is LORD of Heaven and Earth, dwelleth not in Temples made

with Hands:

25 Neither is worfhipped with Mens Hands, as though he NEEDED any thing, feeing he giveth to all LIFE, and BREATH, and all Things;

26 And hath made of ONE BLOOD

all Nations of Men, for to dwell on

all the Face of the Earth, and hath DETERMINED the TIMES before ap

pointed, and the BOUNDS of their HABITATION:

27 That they should SEEK the LORD. if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us : 28 For in him we LIVE, and MOVE, and have our BEING.

10 g He found him in a defert Land, and in the wafte howling Wilderness he led him about, he inftructed him, he kept him as the Apple of

his Eye.

11 As an Eagle stirreth up her Neft, fluttereth over her Young, SPREADETH abroad her WINGS, taketh them, beareth them on her Wings.

12 So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no ftrange God with him.

13 He made him ride on the high Places of the Earth, that he might eat the Increase of the Fields.

15 But Jefhurun waxed fat, and kicked thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with

TRUST.

4 He fhall cover thee with his Feathers, and under his WINGS fhalt thou TRUST: his TRUTH fhall be thy SHIELD and BUCKLER.

s Thou shalt NOT be AFRAID for Arrow that flieth by Day: the Terror by Night: nor for the

6 Nor for the Peftilence that walketh in Darkness: nor for the Deftruction that wafteth at Noon-day.

7 A Thousand fhall fall at thy Side, and Ten thoufand at thy Right Hand: but it fhall not come nigh thee.

8 Only with thine Eyes fhalt thou behold, and fee the REWARD of the

WICKED.

9 Because thou haft made the LORD Fatnefs;

Fatnefs; then he forfook GOD which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his Salvation.

16 They provoked him to Jealoufy with ftrange Gods, with Abominations provoked they him to Anger.

which is my REFUGE, even the MOST HIGH, thy Habitation:

To There fhall NO EVIL BEFAL thee,

neither fhall any PLAGUE come nigh thy Dwelling.

Matth. xxiii. 37 O JERUSALEM, JE. RUSALEM, thou that killeft the Pro

phets, and ftoneft them which are fent unto thee, how often would I have GATHERED thy Children together, even as a Hen gathereth her

Chickens under her WINGS, and ye would not!

I Cor. x. 20 The Things which the GENTILES facrifice, they SACRIFICE TO DEVILS, and NOT to GOD.

17 i They SACRIFICED unto DEVILS, NOT to GOD; to Gods whom they knew not, to new Gods that came newly up, whom your Fathers feared not.

18 Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and haft forgotten GOD that formed thee.

19 And when the LORD faw it, he abhorred them, becaufe of the provoking of his Sons, and of his Daughters.

20 And he said, I will hide my Face from them, I will fee what their End fhall be: for they are a very froward Generation, Children in whom is no Faith.

21 They have MOVED me to JEALOUSY with that which is not GOD, they have

K Rom. x. 19 Mofes faith, I will PROVOKE you to JEALOUSY by them that are no People, and by a foolish

Nation I will ANGER you.

PROVOKED me to ANGER with their VANITIES: and I will move them to JEALOUSY with those which are not a People, I will provoke them to Anger with a foolish Nation.

22 For a Fire is kindled in my Anger, and fhall burn unto the lowest Hell, and fhall confume the Earth with her Increase, and fet on fire the Foundations of the Mountains.

23 I will heap Mischiefs upon them, I will spend mine Arrows upon them.

24 They fhall be burnt with Hunger, and devoured with burning Heat, and with bitter Destruction: I will also fend the Teeth of Beafts upon them, with the Poison of Serpents of the Duft.

25 The Sword without, and Terror within fhall destroy both the young Man and the Virgin, the Suckling alfo with the Man of gray Hairs.

26 I faid, I would fcatter them into Corners, I would make the Remembrance of them to ceafe from among Men:

27 Were

27 Were it not that I feared the Wrath of the Enemy, left their Adverfaries fhould behave themselves ftrangely, and left they should fay, Our Hand is high, and the LORD hath not done all this.

28 For they are a Nation void of Counsel, neither is there any Understanding in them. 29 O that they were WISE, that they understood this, that they would CONSIDER their LATTER END!

[blocks in formation]

31 For their Rock is not as our Rock, even our Enemies themselves being Judges.

32 For their Vine is of the Vine of Sodom, and of the Fields of Gomorrah: their Grapes are Grapes of Gall, their Clufters are bitter.

Ecclef. xi. 8 If a Man live many Years, and rejoyce in them all yet let him remember the DAYS of DARKNESS, for they fhall be many. All that cometh is VANITY.

9 Rejoyce, O YOUNG MAN, in thy in the Days of thy Youth, and walk YourH, and let thy Heart cheer thee in the Ways of thy Heart, and in the Sight of thine Eyes: but know thou, that for all THESE THINGS GOD will bring thee into JUDGMENT.

Pfal. xxxix. 4 LORD, make me to know mine END, and the MEASURE of my DAYS, what it is; that I may know how FRAIL I am.

s Behold, thou haft made my Days as an HAND-BREADTH, and mine Age is as NOTHING before thee: ve

rily every Man at his BEST STATE is altogether VANITY.

Pfal. lxxxi. 13 O that my People had HEARKNED unto me, and Ifrael

had WALKED in my WAYS!

33 Their Wine is the Poifon of Dragons, and the cruel Venom of Afps.

34 Is not this laid up in Store with me, and fealed up among my Treasures?

35 To me belongeth Vengeance and Recompence, their Foot fhall flide in due time for the Day of their Calamity is at hand, and the Things that fhall come upon them make hafte.

36 For the LORD fhall judge his People, and repent himfelf for his Servants; when he feeth that their Power is gone, and there is none fhut up, or left.

37 And he fhall fay, Where are their Gods, their Rock in whom they trusted?

38 Let them rife up and help you, and be your ProteЄtion.

39 See now that I, even I am he, and there is no God with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my Hand.

40 For I lift up my Hand to Heaven, and fay, I live for

ever.

41 If I whet my glittering Sword, and mine Hand take hold on Judgment; I will render Vengeance to mine Enemies, and will reward them that hate me.

42 I will make mine Arrows drunk with Blood (and my Sword fhall devour Flesh) and that with the Blood of the Slain, and of the Captives, from the Beginning of Revenges upon the Enemy.

m

43 REJOYCE, O ye Nations, with his People: for he will avenge the Blood of his Servants, and will render VENGEANCE to his Adverfaries, and will be merciful unto his Land, and to his People.

44 And Mofes came and fpake all the Words of this Song in the Ears of the People, he and Hofhea.

m Rom. XV. 8 JESUS CHRIST was a Minifter of the Circumcifion for the

Truth of GOD, to CONFIRM the PRO-
MISES made unto the Fathers:

9 And that the GENTILES might GLORIFY GOD for his MERCY; as it is written, For this Cause I will confess

to thee among the Gentiles and SING unto thy NAME.

10 And again he faith, REJOYCE ye GENTILES with his PEOPLE.

II And again, PRAISE the LORD all ye GENTILES, and Laun him all ye People.

45 And Mofes made an end of speaking all these Words to all Ifrael:

46 And he faid unto them, Set your HEARTS unto all the Words which I testify among you this Day; which ye fhall command your CHILDREN to obferve to do, all the Words of this Law.

47 For it is NOT a VAIN Thing for you: because it is your LIFE; and through this Thing ye fhall prolong your Days in the Land whither ye go over Jordan to poffefs it.

48 And the LORD fpake unto Mofes that felf-fame Day, faying,

49 Get thee up into this Mountain Abarim, unto Mount Nebo, which is in the Land of Moab, that is over against Jericho and behold, the Land of Canaan, which I give I unto the Children of Ifrael for a Poffeffion.

50 And die in the Mount whither thou goeft up, and be gathered unto thy People; as Aaron thy Brother died in Mount Hor, and was gathered unto his People:

51 Because ye trefpaffed against me among the Children' of Ifrael, at the Waters of Meribah Kadesh, in the Wildernefs of Zin; because ye fanctified me not in the midst of the Children of Ifrael,
