My friends and my neighbours apo proached, and stood against me.

And they that were near me, stood 1 at a distance; and they that sought my? life, used violence.

And they that sought to do me misechief ; spoke falshood ; and studied deaceits all the day.'

But I, as a deafinan", did not hear; : and was like a dumb man that opens not his mouth,

And I became as a man that does; not hear; and has no reproofs in his mouth.

Because I have hoped in thee, 0 Lord, thou wilt hear me, God

For I said, let' not my enemies rejoice over me at any tinie; and whilse my feet slipped, they spoke haughtily against me.

Because I am prepared for scourges and my sorrow is continually in my sight.

Because I will declare my iniquity , , and will think upon my sin. But my enem ies live, and are strengthe'sNyi

O Lord my

They that return evil for gnod slandered me, because I followed goodness.

Forsake me not, O Lord my God; depart not from me.

Attend to my help, O Lord the God of my salvation.

IV. Psalm L.

bfot out my

Ave mercy on me,

O God, aco cording to thy great mercy. And according to the multitude of thy commiserations,

inic quity: Wash me still more from

inis quity, and cleanse me from my sip.

Because I acknowledge my iniquity; and my sin is always before me.

Against thee alone I have sinned, and before thee I have done evil'; that thou, mayst be justified in thy words, and mayst overconic when thou art judged

For behold I was conceived in iniquity; and my mother brought me forth ip sin.

For behold thou hast loved truth and hast discovered to me the dark and hidden things of thy wisdom.

Thou wilt sprinkle me with hyssop, and I shall be cleansed; thou wilt wash

and I shall be made whiter than

me ,

Thou wilt give joy and gladness to my hearing; and the bones which are bumbled shall rejoice.

'Turn away thy face from my sins; and blot out all my iniquities.

Create a clean heart is me, O God; and renew an upright spirit within

my bowels.

Cast me not away from thy face ; nor withdraw thy holy spirit from me.

Restore to me the joy of thy salvation; and strengthen me with a sovepeign spirit.

I will teach thy ways to the unjust; and the impious shall be converted to thee.

Deliver me from blood, O God, the God of my salvation; and my tongue shall extol thy justice.

O Lod thou wilt open my lips ; and! my mouth shall declare thy praise. For if thou hadst desired sacsifice, in N vi:

deed I should have given it; with hotocausts thou wilt not be delighted,

An afflicted mind is a sacrifice to God; a contrite and humble heart, 0 God, thou wilt not despise.

Ve gracious, O Lord, in thy good will to Sion, that the walls of Jerusas lemn may be built up.

Then thou wilt accept the sacrifice of justice, obla •ons, and holocausts; then shall they lay calves upon thy altar.

Glory, be to the Faiher, 0.66

V. Psalm ci.

Ord hear my prayer; and let my

cry come to thee. Turn not away thy face from me; in what day soever I am in affliction, incline thy ear to me.

In what day soever. I shall invoke thee, hear me speedily.

Because my days are vanished as smoke ; and my bones are withered like dry brush wood. I am blasted like the

grass, and my heart is dried; because I have forgot ten .to eat.. my bread..

By the noise of my groaning, my bone has cleaved' to my flesh.

I am become like a pelican of the desert ; I am become as a night crow in the house.

I have watched , and become as a solitary sparrow upon a house top.

My enemies upbraided me all the day; and those who had praised me, swore against me.

For I did eat ashes as bread, and mingled my drink with tears.

By reason of thy wrath and indignation, for having elevated me, thou has to dashed me on the ground.

My days have passed away like a shadow, and I am withered as grass.

But thou , O Lord, remainest for ever ; and the memory of thee shall be from generation to generation.

• Thou wilt arise and take 'pity on Sion; because it is the time to take pity, on it, for the time is come. *, Because the stones of it have pleased thy servants; and they will take pity on the ground of it.

And the nations shall fear thy name O Lord, and all the kings of the earth thy glory.
