EORGE by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, Defender of the Faith &c. To all to whom these Prefents fhall come Greeting. Whereas our Trufly and Well-beloved Mary Smalridge, Widow and Adminiftratrix of the Right Reverend Father in God Dr. George Smalridge, Bishop of Bristol, and Dean of Christ-Church, in our University of Oxford deceased, has humbly reprefented unto us, that he has given Directions for printing at the Theatre in Oxford, in one Volume, fixty Sermons preach'd on several Occafions by her faid late Husband; and that the fole Right and Title of the faid Work is in her the faid Mary Smalridge as Administratrix aforesaid, she has therefore humbly befought us to grant her our Royal Privilege and Licence for the fole printing and publishing the faid Sermons for the Term of fourteen Years, and we being willing to encourage fo useful and pious a Work, are graciously pleased to condefcend to her Request; and do therefore hereby, so far as may be agreeable to the Statute in that behalf made and provided, grant unto the faid Mary Smalridge, our Royal Licence for the fole printing and publishing the faid Sermons, for and during the Term of fourteen Years, to be computed from the Day of the Date hereof, ftrictly charging and prohibiting all our Subjects within our Kingdoms and Dominions to reprint or abridge the fame, either in the like or in any other Volume or Volumes whatsoever, or to import, buy, vend, utter, or diftribute any Copies of the fame, or any Part thereof reprinted beyond the Seas, within the Term of fourteen Years, without the Consent and Approbation of Mary Smalridge, her heirs, Executors, and Afsigns, by writing, under her or their Hands and Seals first had and obtain'd, as they and every one of them offending herein will answer the contrary at their Perils Whereof the Mafter, Wardens, and Company of Stationers, of our City of London, Commiffioners, and other Officers of our Customs, and all other our Officers and Ministers whom it may concern, are to take Notice that due Obedience be given to our Pleasure herein signified. Given at our Court at St. James's the 19th Day of December 1724, in the eleventh Year of our Reign,
