BE IT REMEMBERED, that on the eighteenth day of March, A. D. 1823, in the forty-seventh year of the Independence of the United States of America, CHARLES EWER and TIMOTHY BEDLINGTON, of the said District, have deposited in this office the title of a book, the right whereof they claim as Proprietors, in the words following, to wit "Lessons in Elocution; or a Selection of Pieces in Prose and Verse, for the improvement of Youth in Reading and Speaking. By WILLIAM SCOTT. To which are prefixed, Elements of Gesture; illustrated by four plates, and rules for expressing with propriety the various passions of the mind. Also, an Appendix, containing lessons on a new plan. To which is added, an abridgment of Walker's Rules for the pronunciation of Greek and Latin proper names, with a list of classical names which occur in the work." In conformity to the Act of the Congress of the United States, entitled, "An Act for the encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of maps, charts, and books, to the authors and proprietors of such copies, during the times therein mentioned:" and also to an Act, entitled, "An Act supplementary to an Act, entitled, An Act for the encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of maps, charts, and books, to the authors and proprietors of such copies, during the times therein mentioned; and extending the benefits thereof to the arts of designing, engraving, and etching historical, and other prints."
