Q. 83. What is the communion in glory with Chrift, which the members of the invisible church enjoy in this life?

A. The members of the invifible church have communicated to them, in this live, the firft-fruits of glory with Chrift, as they are members of him their head, and fo in him are interested in that glory which he is fully poffeffed of2; and as an earneft thereof, enjoy the fenfe of God's love", peace of confcience, joy in the Holy Ghoft, and hope of glory. As on the contrary, fenfe of God's revenging wrath, horror of confcience, and a fearful expectation of judgment, are to the wicked the beginning of the torments, which they fhall endure after death".

Q. 84. Shall all men die?

A. Death being threatened as the wages of fin", it is appointed unto all men once to die; for that all have finned".

Q. 85. Death being the wages of fin, why are not the righteous delivered from death, feeing all their fins are forgiven in Chrift?

A. The righteous fhall be delivered from death itself at the last day, and even in death are delivered from the fting and curfe of its; so that, although they die, yet it is out of God's love", to free them perfectly from fin and misery', and to make them capable of farther communion with Christ in glory, which they then enter upon.

Q. 86. What is the communion in glory with Chrift, which the members of the invifible church enjoy immediately after death?

A. The communion in glory with Christ, which the members of the invisible church enjoy immediately after death, is in that their fouls are then made perfect in holinefs', and received into the highest heavens", where they behold the face of God in light and glory"; waiting for the full redemption of their bodies, which even in death continued united to Chrift", and reft in their graves as in their beds, till at the last day they be again united to their fouls". Whereas the fouls of the wicked are at their death caft into hell, where they remain in torments and utter darkness; and their bodies kept in their graves,

Q.87. What are we to believe concerning the refurrection?

A. We are to believe, that at the last day there fhall be a general refurrection of the dead, both of the juít and unjuft'. When they that are then found alive fhall in a moment be changed; and the felf fame bodies of the dead which were laid in the grave, being then again united to their fouls for ever, fhall be raised up by the power of Christ". fhall all be changed; in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the laft trump; for the trumpet fhall found, and the dead fhall be raised incorruptible, and we fhall be changed. For this corruptible, must put on incorruption, and this mortal muft put on immortality. Theff. 4. 15, 16, 17. For this we fay unto you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord, fhall not prevent them who are afleep. For the Lord himself fhall defcend from heaven with a fhout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God, and the dead in Chrift fhall rife firft. Then we who are alive and remain, fhall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air; and fo fhall we be ever with the Lord. John 5. 28, 29.

w I Cor. 15. 12, 22, 23, 42, 43, 44. For fince by man came death, by man came alfo the refurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even fo in Chrift fhall all be made alive. [It is evidently the scope of the apostle's argument in this paf. fage, to prove, that as all the natural feed of Adam, their covenant-head, were fubjected to death by his offence; fo all the fpiritual feed of Chrift, their new covenant head, fhall be raised from death, to an immortal life of glory and bleffednefs, by virtue of his refurrection. It is therefore a perverfion of the fcripture, to adduce this text as a proof of univerfal redemption.] But
