Spirit, be all Honour, Glory, Love, Service, and Obedience, by me and all thy Creatures, for evermore. Amen.

Prayers to be used by any one or more in a Family, in the Prefence of a fick Person ; any of which may be alfo ufed by a Perfon in private, in behalf of fick Friends; and may be added to the Morning and Evening Prayers in the Family.

When thefe Prayers are used by one Perfon only, be muft ufe I instead of We; Me, inftead of Us. The Words, Him, He, His, are printed in a different Character, that if the fick Perfon be of the other Sex, Him and His may be more readily changed for Her, He for She.

Almighty God, the Help of all that

put their Truft in thee, the Relief of the needy, the fovereign Good of all Mankind; hear the Prayers we now offer unto thy Divine Majefty, in the Behalf of thy Servant now lying upon the Bed of Sicknefs. Look upon him, we pray thee, with thy tenderest Pity and Compaffion, and be thou gracious and, favourable unto him, according to the Neceffity of his Cafe, and according

according to the Multitude of thy tender Mercies in Chrift Jefus.

In Submiffion to thy most wife Difpofal of Things, we beseech thee to abate his Diftemper, to ease his Pains, and reftore him, in thy due Time, to his former Health and Strength, that he may have a longer Time to work out his Salvation, and be more ufeful in his Station, and do more Good in his Generation: But however thou shalt be pleafed to deal with him, as to the Concerns of his Body, yet, O Lord, let his Soul be ever precious in thy Sight; wash and cleanfe it, we befeech thee, in the Blood of thy dear Son, that it may be delivered from all the Defilements it hath contracted in this finful Life, and be prefented pure and fpotlefs. before the Throne of Grace.

Oh! give him a right Difcerning of the Things which belong to his Peace, and let them never be hid from bis Eyes.

Enable him to finish the great Work he has to do, give him a true and unfeigned Repentance of all his Sins, and a firm Reliance on thy gracious Promises; and grant that he may find that Peace of God, which passes all Understanding.

Fit him, O Lord, for living and dying, and for whatever, in thy wife and righteous Providence, thou haft defigned for him. And if thou haft determined, that this Sickness fhall be a Sickness unto Death, and this Visitation his last Visitation, prepare him, O merciful God, by thy Grace, for thy bleffed Self, and grant him a fafe and comfortable Paffage out of this World, to that which is infinitely better, through the Merits and Mediation of thy blessed Son, our Saviour Jefus Chrift. Amen. O God the Father of Heaven, Have Mercy upon him,

Keep and defend him.

O God the Son, Redeemer of the World,
Have Mercy upon him,

Save him and deliver him.

O God the Holy Ghoft, proceeding from the Father and the Son,

Have Merey upon him,

Strengthen and comfort him.

O holy, bleffed, and glorious Trinity,
Have Mercy upon him.

Remember not, Lord, his Offences, nor call to Mind the Offences of his Fore-Fathers; but spare him, good Lord, fpare this thy Servant, whom thou haft redeemed

with thy most precious Blood, and be not angry with him for ever.

Spare him good Lord.

From thy Wrath and heavy Indignation; from the Fear of Death; from the Guilt and Burden of his Sins; and from the dreadful Sentence of the last Judgment,

Good Lord deliver him.

From the Sting and Terrors of Confcience; from Diftruft or Defpair; from Anguifh or Agony, that may any way with draw his Mind from thee,

Good Lord deliver him.

From the bitter Pangs of eternal Death; from the Powers of Darkness; and from the Illufions and Affaults of our ghoftly Enemy,

Good Lord deliver him.

By thy manifold and great Mercies; by the manifold and great Merits of Jefus Chrift thy Son; by his Agony and bloody Sweat; by his ftrong Crying aud Tears; by his bitter Crofs and Paffion; by his glorious Refurrection and Afcenfion; by his effectual and moft acceptable Interceffion; and by the Graces and Comforts of thy Holy Spirit,

Good Lord deliver him.

In the Time of Extremity; in his last and greatest Need; in the Hour of Death, and in the Day of Judgment,

Good Lord deliver him.

We Sinners do befeech thee to hear us, O Lord God; that it may please thee to affuage his Pains; and give him Patience to bear his Sicknefs; and when thou shalt call him home, give him a quiet and joyful Departure:

We befeech thee to hear us, good Lord. That it may please thee to make him a Partaker of all thy Mercies and Promises in Chrift Jefus :

We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.

That it may please thee, after this Life, to bestow upon him the State of Joy, Blifs, and Happiness, with all thy blessed Saints in thy heavenly Kingdom:

We befeech thee to hear us, good Lord. Son of God, we beseech thee to hear us. O Lamb of God, that takest away the Sins of the World,

Grant him thy Peace.

O Lamb of God, that takeft away the Sins of the World,

Hear our Prayers and have Mercy upon

him.
