But thou, O Man of God, flee thefe • Things, and follow after Righteousness, 'Godliness, Faith, Love, Patience, Meeknefs. Charge them that are rich in this • World, that they be not high-minded, • nor truft in uncertain Riches, but in the living God, who giveth us all Things richly to enjoy. It is appointed unto Men once to die, but after this the Judgment, Heb. ix. 27. Now, I fay, Brethren, it remains that both they that have Wives, be as though they had none; and they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they poffeffed not; and they that ufe this World, as not abufing it; for the Fashion of this < World paffeth away, 1 Cor. vii. 29, 30, "31.

Our rejoicing is this, the Teftimony of our Confcience, that in Simplicity and 'godly Sincerity, by the Grace of God we have had our Converfation in the World, • 2 Cor. i. 12.

And herein do I exercife myself, to ' have always a Conscience void of Offence, towards God, and towards Men, Acts xxiv. 16.

• If our Hearts condemn us not, then ' have we Confidence towards God, 1 John

For though we walk in the Flesh, we do not war after the Flesh: for the Weapons of our Warefare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down • of ftrong Holds : Cafting down Imaginations, and every high Thing that exalteth itself against the Knowledge of God, and bringing into Captivity every Thought to the Obedience of Chrift, 2 Cor. x. 3, 4, 5.
