Bleffed be thy Name, O God, for the Continuance of thy Mercies to us this Day; for providing for our Bodies, and taking Care of our Souls; and for delivering us from those many Evils that we have juftly deferved; but above all, we bless and praise thy holy Name, for thine ineftimable Love in the Redemption of the World by our Lord and Saviour Jefus Chrift; humbly befeeching Thee of thy great Goodness, O Lord, to pass by our Unworthiness of these thy Mercies, and to continue to us thy gracious Favour and Protection; keep us, we befeech Thee, this Night, under the Shadow of thy Wings, that no evil Accident may come near to hurt us. Give us quiet and refreshing Sleep, fuch as may fit us for the Duties of the Day following; and if Thou art pleafed to add another Day to our Lives, grant that we may improve it to thy Glory, and the Benefit of our precious Souls; through Jefus Chrift, our bleffed Lord and only Saviour. Amen.

A Preparatory Prayer.

BLESSED Lord! who hast commanded, and invited us to pray unto thee, O let thy Spirit help my Infirmities; and do thou fo difpofe my Mind, and prepare my Heart, that my Prayers and Praises may be acceptable in thy Sight, through the Mediation, and for the Sake of Jefus Christ. Amen.

A Prayer for Sunday Morning.

GOD, who art the Giver of all good Gifts, and the Father of Mercies, I thine unworthy Servant adore thy glorious , for thofe marvellous Inftances of which Thou haft in all Ages

fhewn

shewn to the Sons of Men: In all thy Dealings and Difpenfations towards us Thou haft manifested thyself to be a most kind and compaffionate Father; thou haft provided for theComfort and Support of our Bodies, and fhewn a most tender Care and Concern for the Welfare and Happiness of our immortal Souls: In great Mercy to them, thou didst appoint one Day in seven for thy more peculiar Worship and Service: that fo by a frequent and religious Obfervance of the Christian Sabbath here on Earth, we might be better fitted and prepared to celebrate that eternal Sabbath of everlasting Reft, which thou haft reserved for us hereafter.

For this, O Lord, and all the other Teftimonies of thy Love, which thou hast fhewn to me, and all Mankind, I defire with an humble and thankful Heart to blefs and praise thy holy Name; and more efpecially for that inexpreffible Inftance of thy Love, the fending thy Son Chrift Jefus into the World, to be the Propitiation for our Sins.

I bless thee, O Lord, for thy great Goodness in preferving me the Night paft from all Perils and Dangers, and bringing me in Health and Safety to the Beginning of this holy Day..

O my

in us the Fruits of a holy and religious Life, that we may not be Hearers of thy Word only, but Doers alfo, left we deceive our own Souls.

Be with me, O Lord, this Day, in all Places, and upon all Occafions: Direct and guide me, fanctify and preserve me. Keep me both outwardly in my Body and inwardly in my Soul. Defend me from the Power and Malice of the Devil, from the Corruptions of my own finful Nature, and from thofe Sins efpecially that do most eafily befet and enfare me. Free my Mind from the Disturbances of Paffion and Anger, and all perplexing Thoughts and Cares; and fo ftrengthen it by thy Grace and Holy Spirit, that nothing may hinder or difcompose me in my Duty, or render me unfit for thy Service. Let me no Ways profane this thy holy Day, either in Thought, Word, or Deed; but give me Grace to spend it in fuch a holy and religious Manner, that every Day of my Life may be the better for it; and when I come to the Conclufion of this Day, I may look back with Joy and Comfort, in an humble, Hope of thy Divine Acceptance, through the Merits and Mediation of my dear Re

deemer,

deemer, Jefus Chrift the Righteous. Amen. Our Father, &c.

A Mafter or Miftrefs of a Family may very properly add this fhort Prayer.

MA

AKE me duly mindful, O Lord, of all those who are under my Care; and grant that none of my Family may, thro' any Neglect of mine, be ever wanting in their Duty towards thee. Let the Care of my own Soul be extended likewife to a Concern for theirs; and give me such a Zeal for thy Glory, fuch a true Regard for the Salvation of others, that I may endea vour (as much as in me lies) to promote Religion and Piety in all about me. Convince me truly, O Lord, how much it is my Duty, as well as Intereft, that I and my House fhould ferve thee; that we should daily offer up our united Prayers and Praises at the Throne of Grace, and efpecially upon this Day fet apart more particularly for thy Service. Be in the Midft of us, O Lord, when we affemble ourselves together; fend thy Bleffing upon all our religious Duties; and grant that not only the Form, but the Power of true Religion, may be vifible
