Deut. xxvi. 11. Thou shalt rejoice in every good thing which the Lord thy God hath given unto thee, and unto thine house.. Joel ii. 23. Be glad ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God, for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain, in the first month. Ver. 24. And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil. Ver. 26. And ye shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wonderously with you. CXI. Rejoicing in God in time of worldly adversity. Hab. iii. 17. Although the fig-tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines, the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat, the flocks shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stall: Ver. 18. Yet will I rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. See Ps. xlvi. 1 to 5. COMFORT IN GOD. CXII. God giveth comfort and consolation. Job xv. 11. Are the consolations of God small with thee? 1 Ps. xxiii. 4. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. lxxi. 20. O God thou hast shewed me great and sore troubles. Ver. 21. Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side. lxxxvi. 17. The Lord hath holpen me and comforted me. xciv. 19. In the multitude of my thoughts within me, thy comforts delight my soul. cxix. 52. I remembered thy judgments of old, O Lord, and have comforted myself. Ver. 76. The churches walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied. Rom. xv. 4. Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be like minded one toward another, according to Christ Jesus. 2 Cor. i. 3. Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. Ver. 4. Who comforteth us in all our tribulations, that we may be able to comfort them that are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. Ver. 5. Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God even our Father, which hath loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace. Heb. vi. 18. Ver. 17. Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work. Observe, the foregoing scriptures represent a Christian's comfort, as proceeding from God the Father, from Christ, the Holy Ghost, and from the holy scriptures. SATISFACTION. CXIII. God satisfieth. Ps. xvii. 15. I will behold thy face in righteousness, I shall be satisfied when I awake with thy likeness. xxxvi. 8. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house, and thou wilt make them drink of the river of thy plea sures. Ver. 9. For with thee is the fountain of life.. Ixiii. 5. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness. Ver. 6. When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. lxv. 4. We shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy place. ciii. 2, 5. Bless the Lord, O my soul, who satisfieth thy mouth with good things. cvii. 9. The Lord satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hun gry soul with goodness. Ps. cxxxii. 15. I will abundantly bless Zion's provision, I will satisfy her poor with bread. Isa. lv. 2. Wherefore do ye spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labour for that which satisfieth not; hearken diligently unto me, and eat that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Jer. xxxi. 14. I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the Lord. Ver. 25. I have satisfied the weary soul. DELIGHT IN GOD. CXIV. Delight in God. Job xxii. 21. Acquaint thyself with God. Ver. 26. Then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and lift up thy face unto God. Ps. xxxvii. 4. Delight thyself in the Lord, and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Isa. Iviii. 14. Keep the Sabbath, &c. Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord, and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father. CXV.
