This is the allegorical history of Marie de Medicis. Rubens' paintings formerly in the Palais du Luxembourg, are now in the Louvre. R. Lion's copy, with the plates before the numbers, half bound, 190 frs. Em. Martin's copy, in similar condition, 150 frs. The book reappeared in 1808 under the title of Galérie de Rubens, dite du Luxembourg, designed and engraved under the direction of M. de Sève, with text by M. Moithey, atlas fol., plates plain and coloured.

JACRE de Louis XV., roi de France et de Navarre (Le) dans l'église de Reims, le 25 novembre, 1722. S.l.n.d. (Paris, 1722), atlas fol., engraved text of dedication, of the explanations of the plates, and the double leaf of the table within rich borders composed of cartouchs and fleurons by d'Ulin, large vignettes and plates of costumes, large plates after Ulin by Audran, Beauvais, Cochin père, Desplaces, Duchange, Dupuis, Larmessin, Tardieu, Edelink, Chereau, Drevet, Haussard, and Petit. The 8 allegorical plates inspired by Danchet, the editor of the text, were done under the direction of the Abbé Bignon and of M. de Boze. Beneath the explanations of the allegories are some emblematic symbols of France and her kings (£6 to £8, and in moroccoby Padeloup with ornaments, as is almost generally the case, according to state and preservation, from £15. upwards).

The large cartouch frontispiece is not signed; the 8 large head-vignettes represent: Le Char du Soleil; La Reine accueillie par la Religion; La Reine en Prière; La Reine devant Dieu; La Reine distribuant des couronnes; La Reine allant s'asseoir sur le trône; La Reine arrêtant la Marche du Temps; La Reine retenant l'Abondance, et les Grâces. The 9 large double plates are: Le Lever du Roy; Le Roy se rendant à la Basilique; L'Arrivée de la Sainte-Ampoule; Le Roi prosterné devant l'autel; La Cérémonie des onctions; Le Couronnement du Roi; Le Roy conduit au Trône; La Cérémonie des offrandes; Le Festin royal; 30 plates of the costumes of the King and the Courtiers. The Radziwill copy, in red morocco by Padeloup, 200 frs.; resold in the Béhague sale for 690 frs.; the Gosford copy, with the arms of Mme. Victoire (binding repaired), 570 frs.; the Earl of Ashburnham's copy, in old French blue morocco, with broad ornamental gilt borders and arms of France (rather faded and worn), £15 108. (1897). Copies exist with the plates illuminated.

Isabey's copy, containing some unpublished plates and numerous sketches, was burnt in the London fire, June 29th, 1865, together with 2000 works, including Sade's Nouvelle Justine belonging to M. Techener.

The illustrated edition under the same date, 12mo., is very rare.
